Weekly Wrap Up! (11/5/16)
- While Final Fantasy XV is kind of a total bro fest, Square Enix said they would consider adding female playable characters as part of future DLC if the demand was high enough.
- Nintendo stated that while the release of the Switch may have an impact on the Nintendo 3DS, they are not going to discontinue support for the handheld. Nintendo also said that while VR support won't be happening at the launch of the Switch, it's not completely ruled out for the future.
- The final patch for Driveclub on the PS4 was released and brought 15 new tracks as well as reverse variations to some of the current tracks.
- The leaked and rumored latest Overwatch character Sombra, has been confirmed. Sombra wields a machine pistol, thermoptic camo to disappear, and can hack enemy players to prevent them from using abilities temporarily.
- A report surfaced online that Nintendo was reportedly ended the manufacturing of its Wii U console this week. A Nintendo spokesperson commented that it was not true and there was no change to their production of the Wii U.
- Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare does not support cross platform play between Windows 10, Steam, and consoles. Even PC players who purchase the game on Steam or the Windows 10 Store cannot play together. When asked, Microsoft stated they support cross platform play with any developer who wants to enable it, which seems like it's Activision's choice for the limitation of cross platform play.
- In an upcoming update, Steam will soon require game developers to include actual screenshots of their games on the game's store page and not use concept art, pre-rendered images, etc.

- Sony commented that the sales of the PSVR have been on track to what they expected at launch. No specific numbers have been released at this time.
- Phil Spencer stated that he does not want to release a new console every two years. In an interview with Game Informer he stated, "That’s not part of the console business model, and it doesn’t actually help us. The best customer I have is somebody who buys the original Xbox and just buys all the games. That’s the best customer for us in terms of the pure financials of it. I’m not trying to turn consoles into the graphics card market."
- Nintendo released a new free update to Animal Crossing: New Leaf. The update adds two new mini games and an in-game currency called MEOW coupons. The MEOW coupons can be earned by completing daily or weekly challenges and can be used to buy items.
- Facebook is getting more into the video game industry by releasing a beta of its new Steam-like gaming platform called Gameroom with support from Unity developers.
- Blizzard announced the "Rise of the Necromancer" character pack will be coming to Diablo III in 2017. The pack includes two additional character slots, two additional stash slots (for PC), new banners, sigils, in-game pet, and of course the new Necromancer class. Check out the trailer below!
- Dragon Quest VIII for the Nintendo 3DS will release on January 20 in North America and Europe. The 3DS remake of the game will include new characters, side quests, dungeons, and an alternate ending.
- Developer Studio Wildcard stated that they are still working on enabling the play anywhere feature for the Xbox One and PC versions of Ark. While no official date of that happening was mentioned, Studio Wildcard said they are hoping for December.
- Excited for the Xbox One and PC game Scalebound? You'll have to wait a little longer for more news because Microsoft said they won't be releasing any new information on the game until 2017.
- A free demo of Forza Horizon 3 is now available for the PC in the Microsoft Store.
- Bethesda released a new trailer for their upcoming game Dishonored 2 and the world of Karnaca.
