Weekly Wrap Up! (7/22/17)
- Bluehole revealed that the monthly update for Playerunknown's Battlegrounds has been delayed until August 3 due to server issues.
- The Nintendo game Splatoon is getting an anime series later this year on Japanese magazine CoroCoro's YouTube channel. The anime series will begin on August 12.
- Developer Techland announced that they will be continuing support for Dying Light with a year's worth of free DLC. There will be 10 pieces of DLC released over the next year that includes new enemies, new locations, in-game events, and more.
- Atari revealed the first image of its upcoming console known as the Ataribox. The Ataribox will include HDMI output, SD card slot, and four USB inputs. Also noted is that the Atari box will feature the ability to play classic games as well as current gaming content.
- Telltale announced that The Wolf Among Us Season Two and the fourth and final season of the Walking Dead series will be releasing in 2018.
- Ubisoft announced that there will be an open beta for the PvP mode in Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands this summer on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The PvP mode, known as Ghost War, will feature a 4v4 team death match style gameplay on large maps. The PvP mode will be free to everyone when it launches this fall.
- The upcoming fighting game Dragon Ball FighterZ is getting a closed beta on Xbox One and PS4. Signups for the closed beta will begin on July 26.
- Titanfall 2 will be receiving more free DLC content on July 25 in the form of the Frontier Defense pack. The latest DLC will add a horde-like mode, and two additional multiplayer maps. The Frontier Defense mode will feature five difficulty settings, new titan progression system, and supports five maps at launch. While defeating waves of enemies, players will earn in game money to buy tools and other items.
- Just Cause 3 received a free multiplayer mod for the PC version on Steam. The modes available in the multiplayer mod include team death match, free roam, and custom races. People who are savvy with HTML, CSS, and Javascript can even make changes in the mod like vehicle enhancements and even changes to the environment.
- Overcooked is coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year and includes all previously released DLC. The Switch edition will include special rumble support for the Joy-Con controllers.
- The fan made World of Warcraft legacy server Felmyst is officially live. The Felmyst server lets players experience World of Warcraft back to the original settings when the Burning Crusade expansion first launched back in 2007. There is an Alliance realm and a Horde realm.
- The game Undertale is releasing on the PS4 and PS Vita on August 15. The digital $15 version of the game includes a dynamic theme, the standard version costs $25 and includes a illustrated booklet, and the $64 collector's edition includes the game's soundtrack, sheet music, and a 14K gold-plated locket that plays the song "Memory" from the game.
- The new 6.66 update for DOOM has removed the game's season pass and made all multiplayer DLC free to everyone. This includes nine maps, new weapons, equipment, playable demon characters, modes, and more.
- In more Telltale news, the developer announced that Batman: The Enemy Within will be releasing on August 8 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. An iOS and Android version will also be releasing sometime later this year. Batman: The Enemy Within is the second season to the Batman Telltale series.
- Microsoft announced that in their recent sales quarter, there are 53 million active users on Xbox Live, which is up from 49 million active users this same time last year.
- A new gameplay trailer for The Evil Within 2 was released earlier this week and shows off the game's very creepy and horror filled atmosphere. The game releases on Friday, October 13 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
I want to play Dragon Ball FighterZ.
