Weekly Wrap Up! (12/22/18)


- 343 Industries shared during a recent Mixer stream that Halo Infinite will have four player split screen, include player customizations inspired from Halo Reach, and that PC players will have access to special features.

- Episodes of Telltale's The Walking Dead: The Final Season will be available exclusively on the Epic store. Anyone who has previously purchased all seasons from a different online store will still have access to the final episodes. Console players will still be able to purchase the final episodes on the Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch stores.

- Earlier this week Epic announced that they delayed the release of the new Driftboard vehicle in Fortnite. The Driftboard was originally supposed to release this week as part of the 7.10, but Epic stated they wanted to fine tune some things.

- Rumors surfaced that lunch boxes (the Fallout form of loot boxes) could be coming to the open world survival game Fallout 76 in a future update. The lunch boxes would give players small rewards and can be earned through in game actions or purchased with real money. This of course is adding to the already controversial game because players fear some may be able to buy access to powerful items to make themselves unstoppable PvP machines and ruin the experience for others.

- The latest Devil May Cry 5 trailer was released this week and features the character V who looks to bring some interesting friends and combat moves to the mix.


- The legendary Pokemon Heatran was added to Pokemon Go this week. Heatran will be in the game's Raid Battles until January 15.

- It's been reported that there will be two new Xbox consoles in the next generation. Similar to how the Xbox One S and Xbox One X are now, the codenamed Lockhart will be more affordable and a "base" console, while the codenamed Anaconda will cost more money but offer more power for those who want it. Both new Xbox consoles are expected to release sometime holiday 2020.

- Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's first expansion Operation Absolute Zero is out now on Xbox and PC following last week's release on the PS4. The latest expansion adds the new playable character Zero, a new area (Hijacked) to the Blackout mode map, revamped Black Market progression system, daily challenges to Zombie mode, and more.

- Razer announced their new wireless keyboard and mouse that are specifically designed for the Xbox One. Called the Razer Turret, it will feature special dynamic Xbox lighting that changes color depending on the game you're playing, a Xbox specific home or dashboard key, and will last up to 40 hours on a single charge. The Razer Turret can also be used for the PC if you want to, and will cost $250.


- Earlier this week Bungie released their Veteran of the Hunt gift for Destiny 2 players who played the Forsaken expansion between the launch on September 4 through October 16. The gift bundle includes two exotic emotes, various consumables like fireteam medallions, and a special emblem and shader.

- People are loving Super Smash Bros.! Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has become Nintendo's fastest selling console game in Europe, the fastest selling game in Nintendo's Eshop, and is the fastest selling game in the United States by selling more than 3 million units during the first 11 days after launch.

- An animated series based on the Warhammer 40,000 game series titled Angels of Death. The animated series is expected to release sometime in 2019 on the Warhammer TV YouTube channel.

- Epic games launched the official Fortnite merchandise store called Retail Row this week. The merchandise available right now includes hoodies, t-shirts, and even a onesie.       

- The latest "survivors vs/escape the killer" game Last Year: The Nightmare released for PC on Discord this week and a new PvP themed trailer was released. Fans of Dead by Daylight and Friday the 13th: The Game should check this one out!


- Developer Media Molecule released the beta of their upcoming "build your own game maker" game called Dreams this week. The beta was only available to a small number of people, but you will be able to sign up for the January 8 beta beginning January 4.

- Vikendi, the fourth and latest map for PUBG was released on PC this week. The new map adds snow covered mountains, fields, frozen lakes, and even a new Survivor Pass that allows players to earn special rewards from completing milestones. Vikendi will eventually release on the Xbox One and PS4 versions in January.

- In a recent updated for Darksiders 3, a new "classic" combat style is available that makes the game feel more closely to the first two games in the series. In the classic combat style, players will be able to cancel attacks by dodging and use items instantly.

- This week, IGN released some exclusive new campaign gameplay footage of Crackdown 3 and it is looking very promising and fun. Check it out!
