Weekly Wrap Up! (6/2/18)


- Sony announced that they will be releasing a new limited edition model of the PlayStation 4 on June 8 to coincide with the Days of Play sales event (running June 8-18). The Days of Play edition PS4 features a blue casing, gold logo, blue controller, and a 1TB hard drive and will cost $300.

- Looking for some fun, quick, arcade style racing? Sega announced that Team Sonic Racing will be releasing sometime this winter on Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The game will feature 15 playable characters and will include both local and online co-op.

- The free Games With Gold games for the month of June were revealed earlier this week. On the Xbox One you can download Assassin's Creed: Russia and the Smite Gold Bundle. On the Xbox 360 you can download Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed and Lego Indiana Jones 2: The New Adventures. Of course, the two Xbox 360 games are backwards compatible on the Xbox One.

- The wildly popular battle royale game Fortnite received its first vehicle update this week. Was it a jeep, tank, or sport car mounted with rocket launchers and machine gun? Nope! It is none other than a shopping cart. Players can ride in the shopping cart solo or with a friend.

- Love Mega Man? Well here's some news you'll really love! Capcom announced that Mega Man 11 will officially be releasing on October 2 for Xbox One, PS4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.


- Despite the game's rough launch and mixed reviews, developer Undead Labs revealed that in the first two days of State of Decay 2's launch, over one million players were playing the game. Also revealed was that from May 18-22 over 6 million hours of the game had been played and over 675 million zombies had been killed.

- The free PlayStation Plus games for the month of June were revealed this week. On the PS4 you can download Trials Fusion and XCOM 2. On the PS3 you can download Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and Zombie Driver HD. Finally, on the PS Vita you'll be able to download Squares and Atomic Ninjas.

- The latest 4.0 update was released for Monster Hunter World this week that added the new Elder Dragon Empress of Flame Lunastra. Defeating Lunastra will give players rare materials that can be used to craft special armor and weapons.

- After a leak, Ubisoft confirmed that Assassin's Creed Odyssey is indeed real and more details will be shown at E3. Details and new features being reported about the game right now include dialogue options, being able to pick between a male or female protagonist, and an ancient Greece setting. 

- Nintendo announced they will be releasing a new The Legend of Zelda themed 2DS XL that features a Hylian shield design and is pre-loaded with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. The special edition 2DS XL will be available at GameStop beginning July 2, will cost $159.99, and as of now has only been announced to release in North America.


- Despite the Nintendo Switch version of FIFA 19 not running on the Frostbite game engine, the developer stated the Switch version of the game will still have enhanced graphics and is being developed on a custom game engine.

- Bungie announced a partnership with the Chinese tech company NetEase for future projects. Bungie stated that this partnership will help them become more of an entertainment company and explore new worlds and ideas.

- Twitch Prime members can now download their five free PC games for the month of June. This month's free games include: Banner Saga, Banner Saga 2, Strafe, Treadnauts, and Tumblestone.

- Starting on Thursday, June 7, three popular Rockstar games will be backwards compatible on the Xbox One. The three games include Midnight Club: Los Angeles, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis.

- After a very long live stream tease, Bethesda finally revealed a teaser trailer for the latest game in the Fallout franchise titled Fallout 76. There are a lot of rumors and speculations floating around such as the game being an open world survival game. Bethesda has commented that more news and details will be shared during E3. Check out the trailer below!

  1. Awesome Post!! I'm really looking forward to E3 to find out about Fallout 76. I didnt know they were coming out with a new cart racer for console, we need one I played a sonic one and it was fun on my Vita

    1. Thanks man! Glad you liked the Weekly Wrap Up post. I'm also anxious to hear more about Fallout 76 and all of E3 stuff. Cart racers are always fun. The last Sonic Racer game is free on Xbox this month to give it a try.
