Weekly Wrap Up! (12/23/17)
- The very popular MOBA game Arena of Valor finally released in North America earlier this week for mobile devices and will soon release on the Nintendo Switch.
- PlayerUknown's Battlegrounds released on the Xbox One last week, and within two days after the launch the game had reached 1 million players on Xbox One.
- A recent update to Friday the 13th: The Game added a offline mode that allows players to select a map as Jason and hunt down offline bot counselors that they can select different difficulty settings for. The update also raised the level cap from 101 to 150, and includes some new outfits.
- A port of Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus is releasing sometime next year for the Nintendo Switch and is being handles by Panic Button, the same studio who brought both Rocket League and Doom to the Switch.
- Fans of the anime series My Hero Academia will be glad to know that Bandai Namco confirmed that the game, My Hero Academia: One's Justice, will be releasing outside of Japan in the west sometime next year. The game will release for the Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Check out the trailer below.
- Eiji Aonuma, the series producer of The Legend of Zelda, has confirmed that they are already working on a new Zelda game to add to the beloved series. There's been no word on possible titles, setting, or release window at this time.
- Developer Xaviant Games revealed that they are ending support for their battle royale game The Culling. While the online servers will remain functioning, there are no plans for any future updates.
- Both the classic and modern versions of Super Sonic are available to download for free in Sonic Forces now until late January.
- In more PUBG news, the latest 1.0 update released earlier this week added the 3D replay ability that allows players to see who killed them in a match, while also spectating the map.
- The Xbox Games With Gold for the month of January were revealed this week. On the Xbox One players can download The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III and Zombi. Players can also download Tomb Raider Underworld and Army of Two on the Xbox 360. As usual, both Xbox 360 games are backwards compatible on the Xbox One.
- Developer Double Fine announced that their anticipated sequel, Psychonauts 2, has been delayed until sometime in 2019. The game was originally planned to release sometime in 2018. A game development update video was released too and you can check it out below.
- A sequel to Tom Clancy's The Division could be in development as Massive Entertainment said that while they are continuing to focus on the current game, there were many things not done in the first Division that they'd like to see continued and grow beyond it.
- If you're a Twitch Prime member you can download the turn based strategy game SteamWorld Heist for free now.
- Square Enix announced that the Nintendo Switch version of Dragon Quest Builders is scheduled to release on February 9 and will include some special features such as additional crafting options and rare materials.
- The 5.0 update for the Nintendo Switch game Arms just released this week that added the new character Dr. Coyle to the roster. It was also shared that the 5.0 update would be the last major update to the game, but balancing and patch updates would still continue.
- A new trailer for Dragon Ball FighterZ was released showing off the Super Saiyan Blue Goku character that will be available from the roster of fighters in the game. You can unlock the Super Saiyan Blue Goku early by pre-ordering the game. Check out the trailer that is clearly over 9,000!!!
