Weekly Wrap Up! (9/23/17)
- It was revealed that the file size for the digital version of Super Mario Odyssey will be only 5.7 GB. Super Mario Odyssey releases on October 27 for the Nintendo Switch.
- Gearbox confirmed that Battleborn would not be receiving anymore future content beyond this fall's update which includes balancing adjustments and Borderlands themed character skins. Gearbox did comment that the servers for Battleborn will remain online and the game isn't going anywhere.
- The Battle Royale mode for Fortnite will be free to play for everyone on Xbox One, PS4, and PC when it launches on September 26.
- Square Enix and Platinum Games' highly stylized action RPG Nier: Automata has reached over 2 million copies sold combining both physical and digital sales.
- A new cinematic trailer for Call of Duty: WWII was released earlier this week to highlight some of the game's campaign and the main character Private Ronald "Red" Daniels. Check it out below!
- Playerunknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) continues to be a huge success as the game had 1,348,374 players on September 16. This surpassed the 1,291,328 player record that DOTA 2 reached in March 2016.
- Xbox has approved the remake of the original Xbox controller known as The Duke. The Duke remake is scheduled to release sometime this year, but no price has been announced at this time.
- Love racing in gorgeous cars? Then you'll be glad to know that Microsoft released a demo for Forza Motorsport 7 on Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs. The full game will release on October 3.
- Rockstar is teasing a Red Dead 2 announcement next Thursday, September 28 at 8:00am PT/ 11:00am ET. Here's hoping for a release date and at least some gameplay footage!
- Developer Dontnod Entertainment announced that their upcoming action RPG Vampyr has been delayed until spring 2018 in order to fix some technical issues.
- Looking forward to Middle-earth: Shadow of War? Then feast your eyes on the latest "Friend or Foe" trailer!
- The shooter MMO game Project X will feature a massive 400 player PvP battle royale mode similar to Playerunknown's Battlegrounds. The map will be larger (12km by 12km according to the developer) in order to accommodate the amount of players.
- Developer Koei Tecmo Europe announced that Dynasty Warriors 9 will be launching in early 2018 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
- Enjoy slaying giant alien bugs? Good! Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain has been announced for the PS4. The game is scheduled to release sometime in 2018.
- Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner will be getting a remastered edition released (as of now) in Japan in 2018. The remastered edition includes PSVR support, 4K visuals, new sound design, and other new features.
- Playdead's excellent side scrolling game Inside will be coming to the Nintendo Switch and iOS, but no exact release date has been given at this time.
- Bethesda released another new official gameplay trailer for the upcoming Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus. The game releases on October 27 for the Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
