Weekly Wrap Up! (7/15/17)


- Microsoft revealed that they have some exciting news to announce during their Crackdown 3 panel at the San Diego Comic-Con on July 22. Microsoft also said they will be holding a Q&A session, discuss the behind-the-scenes development of Crackdown 3, and have a surprise guest panelist.

- A new on-demand Netflix-like service for game streaming is in the works. Known as Jump, the service will allow subscribers access to (at launch) 60-100 indie game titles for $9.99 a month. Jump is currently in beta until July 24. The service plans to release about 10 new games each month that will be playable on Windows, Mac, Linux, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive.

- Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is releasing on the Nintendo Switch on September 22 and will feature an exclusive six player local multiplayer mode.

- A release window of 2018 was announced for Kingdom Hearts 3 on both Xbox One and PS4.

- Warframe will be getting a new open world expansion later this year. Known as the Plains of Eidolon, the expansion will feature a new world and town or social hub called Cetus. Players can interact with up to 49 other players within Cetus to complete missions in four player squads. The new world will have day and night cycles and players can explore the landscape at their leisure to fight new enemies and more.


- The Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta will take place from October 4 - 9 for those who pre-order the game. Anyone not pre-ordering the game can play the beta from October 6 - 9. The beta will feature one map from the Starfighter Assault and Galactic Assault modes.

- Gran Turismo Sport will release on October 18 in North America, Europe, and Australia.

- The second batch of DLC for Nioh will release on July 25. Known as Defiant Honor, the DLC will feature new weapon called the Tonga, new armor, magic items, guardian spirits, and more. The Defiant Honor DLC will cost $10 on the PlayStation Store, or is part of the game's season pass.

- The Nintendo Switch games Arms received a new update earlier this week that added a new versus mode where players can take on the role of the game's final boss Hedlok.

- A new update for the Xbox One this week added the ability to add custom pictures for gamerpics, co-streaming with up to three other users in a single broadcast on the Mixer app, and the ability to link your profile to a specific controller.

- Sony announced that the white PS4 Pro will release alongside the Destiny 2 launch on September 6. The white PS4 Pro will include a copy of Destiny 2, a white DualShock 4 controller, and a voucher for digital content to access Destiny 2's expansion pass and other content. - PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds will be getting first person only servers in next month's update. The first person view servers will first be available for solo and duo matches, with the feature coming to squad modes possibly in the future.

- A special steelbook bundle edition of the upcoming Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon games is available for pre-order on Amazon for $80. A physical copy of each game is included within the special steelbook case.

- The mysterious and incredibly intriguing What Remains of Edith Finch will release on Xbox One on July 19 for $20.  

- Logitech announced that they will be acquiring Astro next month for $85 million and adding the family of Astro gaming headsets to their lineup of PC and gaming products.

- Interested in playing Mass Effect: Andromeda? Well then, good news! A free 10 hour trial is available to download for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

- Next month on August 22, Gamecom will kick off in Cologne Germany, and Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One X will be playable to the public during the convention.

- Thunder Lotus Games, developer of Jotun, announced that their latest platformer Sundered will release on July 28 for the PS4 and PC. Check out the trailer below!
