Most Anticipated of E3 2017
Once again the mega gaming convention that is E3 has almost graced us with its presence. Soon gamers around the world will be anxiously watching press conferences, game trailers, demos, and reading up on the latest news articles to get the scoop on their most anticipated or newly announced gaming goodness. It's literally like Christmas in June for gamers. Just like in years past, here's a little breakdown of what I'm looking forward to most and anticipating from this year's press conferences and games. Let's go!
Microsoft Press Conference:
We all know that a portion of Microsoft's press conference this year is going to be devoted to the Scorpio. News and details about the upcoming more powerful Xbox have been released over the past several months, but no details on the official release date and price have been made. I totally expect Microsoft to reveal both those details. I have a slight concern that since Microsoft holds the Scorpio as a "premium console" the price may be a bit too high for most people.
Of course the hardcore gamers will purchase the console day one regardless of price, but if the price is too high, that definitely could alienate many potential buyers. It'll be interesting to see what they reveal. Beyond the Scorpio, Microsoft absolutely needs to showcase a strong lineup of exclusive games and content. I fully expect them to show more of Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves, possibly some new IPs, and indie games.
Sony Press Conference:
Sony will no doubt hit it hard with the exclusive games as the usually do and it's for good reason. Sony has a solid lineup of exclusive titles such as God of War, The Last of Us 2, and Days Gone to hype the crowd and the PlayStation nation. Even in the wake of the Xbox Scorpio, I don't see Sony unveiling another upgraded PS4 model or even a PS5 this year. However, maybe some possible special bundle editions of the PS4 Pro could be announced?
I also see Sony taking part of their conference to really hype up the timed exclusive content they have with Destiny 2 as many people are anxiously awaiting it. It'll be interesting to see how much time is spent talking about new PSVR games because even though games are continuing to be released for it, Sony has been somewhat silent regarding their VR headset lately. As predicted with Microsoft, I have no doubt that Sony will also spend some time showing off new indie games in development for the PS4.
The Games:
E3 wouldn't be what it is without the games, and we all know there's going to be a lot of them shown. These are some of the games I'm looking forward to (in no particular order):
Destiny 2
Crackdown 3
God of War
Middle-Earth: Shadow of War
Days Gone
The Last of Us 2
Call of Cthulhu
Call of Duty: WWII
Star Wars Battlefront II
Vampyr
State of Decay 2
Detroit: Become Human
Far Cry 5
South Park: The Fractured But Whole
Spider-Man
