Friday the 13th: The Game is Almost Here!

If you're a fan of the Friday the 13th movies, horror games, or both you have no doubt been anxiously waiting for the release of Friday the 13th: The Game from developer Gun Media. However, if you're not familiar with the game let's break it down for you.

Friday the 13th: The Game is a third person survival horror game based upon the classic films. Players will be placed at the lovely and terrifying Camp Crystal Lake, and take on the role as either a camp counselor or the unstoppable horror inducing man himself, Jason Voorhees. Much like similar survival horror games of the genre, only one person will take the role as Jason, while the other seven players will play as counselors.

As counselors you will be doing whatever it takes to survive Jason's wrath. You'll be able to hide inside cabins, under beds, in closets, and more. Find weapons like machetes, knives, bats, and other items like fireworks, bear traps, and flare guns. The weapons and items won't kill Jason (obviously!) but they can be used to stagger and stun him so you can have more time to escape. Make your way throughout the large maps and try to restart cars or restore power to call the police for help. Try to lone wolf it and save yourself, or work with your fellow counselors to make it out alive.

As Jason you are supposed to...well, hunt all the counselors down and kill them all in absolutely brutal ways! Jason also has some special tricks up his sleeves such as being able to use a "motion sense" ability to highlight unsuspecting counselors in the area. Or use a short teleport ability to suddenly pop up next to counselors and scare them to death! It's the ultimate cat and mouse game and you can't let any counselor survive. You have to make your mother proud after all!

Both the counselors and Jason have different strengths and weaknesses. So make sure you find the right counselor or Jason that fits your play style. In addition to the multiplayer game, developer Gun Media has announced that they will be releasing single player content for the game sometime this summer featuring objective based missions and even counselor bots so you can practice your killer moves as Jason offline.

Well, that's a brief overview of the game. So what do you think? Does Friday the 13th: The Game sound like the perfect terrifyingly fun game for you? If it does, thankfully you won't have to wait much longer to play it. Friday the 13th: The Game releases this Friday, May 26, on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
