Weekly Wrap Up! (4/22/17)
- Developer DICE confirmed that Star Wars Battlefront 2 will not have a season pass. DICE stated their decision not to include a season pass was because they do not want segment the game's community. No word on how DLC will be released for the game has been mentioned at this point.
- Overwatch ninja Genji and his hometown of Hanamura will become a playable character and map in the MOBA Heroes of the Storm. They are playable in beta right now and no official release date for Genji and the Hanamura map has been announced.
- The upcoming 3C3C1D119440927 DLC content for Nier: Automata will be releasing soon for both the PS4 and PC. The content features three new colosseums, additional side quests, and features Square Enix CEO Yosuke Matsuda as a new boss to fight.
- Ubisoft released the 1.13 patch for Watch Dogs 2 that adds a new multiplayer mode called Showdown, a new paintball gun weapon, new clothing items, and various bug fixes all for free.
- Sony announced that in North America they will be releasing a model of the PS4 Slim that includes a 1TB hard drive. The 1TB model of the PS4 Slim will retail for $300 and is scheduled to be available this month.
- Dead Cells, a new game that features gameplay similar to Castlevania and Dark Souls, will arrive for Steam in Early Access on May 10.
- The city building game Cities: Skylines is now available on the Xbox One for $40 and includes the game's After Dark expansion.
- Nintendo announced that they have discontinued the production of the NES Classic ( or mini) edition globally. No official statement on why they are discontinuing production, but rumors are surfacing that they are releasing a SNES Classic Edition sometime later this year.
- After several rumors, Activision officially announced that the latest game in the Call of Duty franchise will indeed take place during World War II. Sledgehammer Games will be developing it and more news will be revealed next week during the live stream event on April 26.
- A French streamer named Xalikah has become the first person to 100% a speedrun of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and completed the game in 49 hours.
- The next expansion for Titanfall 2 was announced this week. Known as Glitch in the Frontier, the expansion adds two new maps, a new faction, Marked for Death game mode, and more. The Glitch in the Frontier expansion will release April 25 for free.
- Ubisoft released the first DLC for Ghost Recon: Wildlands earlier this week for anyone who has the game's season pass. The DLC will be available on April 25 for separate purchase. The Narco Road DLC features 15 missions where players will go undercover to infiltrate three gangs. The missions can be played either solo or in co-op.
- Bandai Namco revealed their new game Code Vein. Code Vein is a post apocolyptic RPG featuring vampires and is described as a hard combat dungeon exploration game. More news is expected to be revealed, but the game isn't scheduled to released until sometime in 2018.
- Ubisoft has opened two new studios designed to assist with AAA title games. The new studio in Bordeaux, France will work on games like Ghost Recon and Just Dance. The other new studio in Berlin, Germany will be working on a new unannounced game.
- Microsoft released Halo Wars: Definitive Edition as a standalone game this week on the Xbox One and PC. The Definitive Edition was previously only available for those who bought the Ultimate Edition of Halo Wars 2.
- Another new trailer for Injustice 2 was released this week highlighting the story of Brainiac and some of this combat moves. Injustice 2 releases on Xbox One and PS4 on May 16.
- The free Games With Gold titles for the month of May were announced this week. The Xbox One will receive Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris and Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams. The Xbox 360 will receive Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II and Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga. Both Xbox 360 titles are backwards compatible with the Xbox One.
- Gun Media officially (and finally) announced that Friday the 13th: The Game will release for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on May 26 digitally for $40. The game will launch with three maps and free single player content will release sometime this summer. Get ready for some horrifying summer camp fun counselors!
- A new free update is coming to Final Fantasy XV. The update will specifically add more support for the PS4 Pro and allow for a stable framerate. Also, the update will add the ability to increase the size of the font of subtitles and the menu screen size. The update will release on April 27 on Xbox One and PS4.
