Weekly Wrap Up! (1/14/17)
- After rumors had surfaced of development trouble for Scalebound, Microsoft unfortunately confirmed that they had cancelled the game.
- New unreleased character voice lines suggest that a possible Valentine's Day event may be taking place in Overwatch next month. Blizzard has yet to comment.
- The Nintendo Switch finally has a confirmed release date and price. The Nintendo Switch will release on March 3 for $299.99. The Switch features a 720p touch screen, 32GB of storage (expandable with micro SDXC cards), and at least six hours of battery life depending on usage off the console docking station.
- A one hour video on YouTube was uploaded showing a player accessing unplayable areas within the already large world of Final Fantasy XV. It's unknown if the areas that were cut from the main game will be released later as DLC, but we can hope!
- The 1.3 update for Skyrim Special Edition was released this week for PS4 and PC. Update 1.3 will release soon on the Xbox One. The new update adds the following:
- General stability and performance improvements
- Fixed an issue where Slow Time effects weren't behaving properly
- Better support for 144hz displays (PC)
- Fixed issue with being unable to log into Bethesda.net
- Some of the pre-order bonus items for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided are now available to everyone for free. Anyone who owns the game can download the Desperate Measures mission, new pistol and rifle skins, new skins for Adam Jensen's armor, and in game consumables.
- Anyone who pre-orders Mass Effect Andromeda via the EA Origin store will be able to start pre-downloading the game beginning on March 17, which is four days before it releases.
- Ubisoft announced that the beta for For Honor will take place on January 26-29 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Also noted is anything earned during the beta will transfer over to the main game when it releases on February 14. To register for a chance to play the beta check out their website here.
- Sony announced a new glacier white PS4 Slim model for Europe and Japan. The 500GB version will be available in Europe on January 24, while a 500GB or 1TB model will be available in Japan on February 23. There's no word on the glacier white PS4 Slim coming to other markets as of now.
- Nintendo revealed at the Nintendo Switch event that the console's online service will be free beginning at launch (March 3) but will then require a paid subscription for multiplayer support beginning sometime fall 2017.
- When asked, Mass Effect Andromeda's lead designer stated that the odds were good that BioWare would be releasing some multiplayer beta news before the end of this month. Make it so!
- A new update for Gears of War 4 was released this week that added the maps Blood Drive and Clocktower, as well as 280 new cards.
- Square Enix stated that over 6 million copies of Final Fantasy XV have been shipped to retailers worldwide since it's launch in November.
- A new story trailer for Horizon: Zero Dawn released this week to show off more of Aloy's story and drive in the game.
- Microsoft announced that the next Halo Wars 2 open beta will begin on January 20 on Xbox One and PC.
- The director of the new God of War game confirmed that Kratos' son's name is Atreus.
- Another update for Dishonored 2 will launch in beta form for the PC on January 18, and then the final update will release on January 23 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The update will add the ability to select specific missions you want to revisit and a new customized difficulty feature, and more.
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will release on March 3 as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch. Check out the North American box art for the game below.
- In a soon to release update for Titanfall 2, players will get access to two new maps and a new game mode called Live Fire. The Live Fire mode is a 6v6 (no titans) where teams have one minute to take out every member of the opposite team in order to win. Another way to win is if a team can take control of a neutral flag by the time the match ends. Live Fire consists of five rounds so first team to three wins is the champion.
- Development studio Guerrilla Cambridge will be shutting down, but the company stated this will not affect the main Guerrilla Studios in Amsterdam.

- Resident Evil 7 releases on January 24 and the fine people over at Capcom have released an all new creepy trailer titled "Welcome Home." Enjoy!
