Weekly Wrap Up! (11/19/16)
- Next month a new update for Dishonored 2 to will be released that adds a new game plus mode along with extra custom difficulty settings.
- Warner Bros. announced that online support for Batman: Arkham Origins will cease on December 4. The single player campaign portion of the game can still be played offline.
- Bethesda released a new update to Skyrim Special Edition on Xbox One, PS4, and PC this week. The 1.2 update brought fixes to some performance and stability issues causing the game to crash for some people, and an update to the mod browsing experience.
- Microsoft's Xbox Executive Aaron Greenberg stated that the Xbox Scorpio will be the most powerful console anyone has ever seen and that the Scorpio is capable of delivering "really true 4K" visuals that haven't been seen on the console before. Microsoft has still commented that the Scorpio is more powerful than the newly released PS4 Pro by a significant margin.
- Sony saw a 200% rise in PS4 sales after the PS4 Pro released in the UK last week. In fact, 65% of sales were from the PS4 Pro model alone.
- Developer Guerilla Games released a new trailer for the upcoming PS4 exclusive title Horizon: Zero Dawn. The "Creating a New World" trailer shows the developers talking about the experience and opportunities of creating an open world game.
- A Canadian division of Toys R Us leaked the price of the Nintendo Switch as $329.99 CAD, which is around £200 UK / $250 USD / and $330 AUD. The advertisement has since been removed from the website and Nintendo has not commented on the price.
- Mods for the PS4 version of Fallout 4 were finally added this week. However, just like the PS4 version of Skyrim Special Edition, the PS4 version of Fallout 4 will only have 1GB available for mod support, while the Xbox One version has 5GB.
- Capcom revealed that Dead Rising 4 will not feature campaign co-op, but a separate online co-op mode where up to four players will take the role of four new characters featured in the game's main story. In the co-op mode players will start within a safe house, then have to roam through the large mall to gather supplies, weapons, complete missions, and get back to the safe house at the end of the day in order to survive.
- When asked on the possibility of Titanfall 3 Vince Zampella, co-founder of Respawn Entertainment, stated that the studio wants to tell more of the story of the Titanfall universe, but it's still too early to tell from a sales standpoint on Titanfall 2.
- Persona fans were no doubt upset to hear the announcement that Persona 5 has been delayed again and won't release in February. The game is now scheduled to release on April 4 in North America and Europe.
- Pokemon fans have been excited for the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon this week. A new trailer for the game was released that shows two new Ultra Beast Pokemon which include UB-03 Lightning and UB-05 Glutton.
- EA released info about the huge new fall update for Battlefield 1. The update includes a slew of features such as stability and bug fixes, being able to customize your character within the UI, squad leadership can be changed to other squad members, weapon balances, and more. - Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild won't be releasing in March 2017, and it was expected to launch alongside the Nintendo Switch. Sadly it looks like Zelda fans are going to have to wait even longer to get new adventures in the land of Hyrule.
- It was discovered through some crafty data mining that Modern Warfare Remastered has new weapons and files that has people speculating that microtransactions could be coming to the game in the future.
- Nintendo announced that the mobile game Super Mario Run will release on December 15 on iOS devices. The game is free to download with limited access to the game modes, and will cost $10 for full access.
- Sombra, the latest character in Overwatch, is now available on all platforms. Also, a new arcade mode was added that includes 1 vs 1 and 3 vs 3 matches.
- Fans of Zen Pinball and Bethesda will be happy to know that Zen Studios will be releasing a special Bethesda themed pinball pack on December 6 for consoles, PC, and mobile devices. The Bethesda pack will feature three tables themed after Skyrim, Fallout, and Doom.
- The Last Guardian is so close to release and a brand new trailer featuring more of the lovable Trico was released this week. Enjoy!
