Game Spotlight: Watch Dogs 2
It's time to fight injustice through hacking abilities and open world mayhem as we take a look at this week's Game Spotlight with Ubisoft's latest release, Watch Dogs 2. Watch Dogs 2 takes place after the events of the first game, but players won't see the original game's protagonist Aiden Pearce, or even the same location. Watch Dogs 2 sets players into the vast city of San Francisco and in the shoes of a new hacker named Marcus Holloway.
Much like the first game set in Chicago, the city of San Francisco has adopted the ctOS (central Operating System) which basically connects everyone in the city to everything and is able to keep an eye on everyone. Through the ctOS program, Marcus is accused and framed of a crime he didn't commit. Being the gifted hacker he is, Marcus teams up with the DedSec hacking group to clear Marcus' name and take down ctOS.
Watch Dogs 2 features an open world where players can freely explore what the city has to offer while on foot (with special parkour movements) or by using any of the vehicles across the city such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, and even boats. Players can complete the game's main and side objectives either going full assault or more stealthily. Just like in Watch Dogs, players can hack devices to cause all sorts of interesting moments. Of course the authorities won't look too kindly on this and will try to stop you. Also, players will be able to upgrade their abilities through three different skill trees called aggressor, stealth, and trickster.
Watch Dogs 2 also features an online co-op mode where players can explore the open world and complete special missions with friends. Two other competitive online modes are part of the game such as the Online Invasion mode where another player can "hack" into another player's game and try to sabotage their DedSec system while the other player hunts them down. A new multiplayer mode called Bounty Hunter has been introduced in Watch Dogs 2. In Bounty Hunter, if an online player creates too much havoc in the city, the mode will start. Then in-game police, along with up to three other players, will join the player's game to try and kill the hunter and collect the bounty which gives them experience points.
So grab your coolest clothes, hacking device, and deadmau5 inspired head gear and get out there and fight the ctOS! Watch Dogs 2 is available now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
