Weekly Wrap Up! (10/29/16)


- Bethesda announced that they are accepting submissions for mods for the Xbox One and PS4 versions of Skyrim: Special Edition. However, as of now there have been 65 mods for Xbox One and only 10 for the PS4. This is most likely due to Microsoft allowing external user created mods and Sony does not. It was also shared that the Xbox One will allow for up to 5GB of mods to be installed, while the PS4 only allows up to 1GB.

- The free Games With Gold titles for Xbox One and Xbox 360 were announced this week. On the Xbox One players can download Murdered: Soul Suspect and Super Dungeon Bros. One the Xbox 360 players can download Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Remember that the Xbox 360 titles are also backwards compatible on Xbox One.

- The first batch of DLC multiplayer maps for Gears of War 4 will release on November 1 for anyone with the season pass, and the maps will be added to the public playlists on November 8.

- Microsoft announced eight different Xbox One console bundles that will be available for the holidays. There are three different Gears of War 4 bundles, three Battlefield 1 bundles, and a Minecraft and FIFA 17 bundle. Check your favorite retailers for bundle availability.


- Nintendo confirmed that the Nintendo Switch does not feature backwards compatibility and therefore won't allow players to access their 3DS cartridges or Wii U discs.

- In more Bethesda news, the developer announced that they will no longer be providing advanced review copies of their games to media outlets no more than one day before release. Bethesda stated this is because they want everyone to experience their games at the same time.

- Turtle Rock Studios announced that they have discontinued support for their multiplayer shooter Evolve. RIP you monsters and monster hunters.

- Microsoft revealed that they are working with top PC manufacturers to bring virtual reality headsets to Windows 10 next year with prices beginning at $299. Microsoft has not commented on whether the Windows 10 VR headsets will be compatible with Xbox One.  

- EA revealed that anyone who plays both Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 on the same account will receive a special World War I themed titan skin.



- If you can't wait to play The Last Guardian and love everything about the game, the soundtrack is now available for order on a special edition vinyl from iam8bit.com.

- Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy XV has gone gold and revealed there will be a new four player co-op multiplayer mode called "Comrades" released as the game's final DLC.

- The final DLC for Hyrule Warriors was announced and contains the characters Yuga and Ravio, each with their special weapons. The DLC will also include 17 costumes, 15 Fairy Wear outfits, and a new map for the adventure mode.

- Do you love unlocked trophies and achievements? It looks like you'll have to spend plenty of time in Titanfall 2's single player campaign because 48 out of 51 achievements/trophies are only unlockable through the campaign. 

- Both Razer and Nacon have announced they will be created PS4 elite controllers, similar to the Xbox One elite controller. No official release date or territory release has been made.



- The free PlayStation Plus games for the month of November have been announced! On the PS4 players can download Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, The Deadly Tower of Monsters, Letter Quest Remastered, and Pumped BMX+. Players on the PS3 can download Pumped BMX+, Dirt 3, and Costume Quest 2. Finally, players on the PS Vita can download Letter Quest Remastered and Pumped BMX+.

- The CEO of Nintendo stated that they will be shipping 2 million units of the new Nintendo Switch console within the fiscal year ending in March 2017.

- Fans of the Kingdom Hearts series will be glad to know that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 and 2.5 Remixes will be available on the PS4 on March 28, 2017 in North America and March 31, 2017 in Europe.
