Weekly Wrap Up! (8/13/16)
- The re-releases of Dead Rising, Dead Rising 2, and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record will be available digitally on the Xbox One and PS4 on September 13. The games will cost $20 individually, or a bundle with all three will be available for $50. Dead Rising will also be available on PC through Steam.
- Microsoft confirmed that while they won't have a booth at the Tokyo Game Show, they will be holding a special fan event sometime in October.
- In a response to eager fans on the PS4, developer Studio Wildcard stated that Sony will not allow them to release an in-development or preview build of Ark: Survival Evolved. They also stated that Sony will not let them release the game on the PS4 until it is finished. Ark: Survival Evolved has been available on both PC and Xbox One through the Steam Early Access and Xbox Preview Program for some time now.
- id Software has shared that they are still undecided on whether or not to make Quake Champions and free-to-play game, or a more traditional paid for game, and are continuing to get gamer's feedback.
- Are you a huge fan of the Battlefield series? So big of a fan you don't even have to play the game? Well, Amazon is selling an exclusive $130 collector's edition of Battlefield 1 that includes: a statue, steelbook, cloth map, deck of playing cards, a messenger pigeon tube, game DLC, and a patch....but not the actual game itself.
- It was confirmed that Dragon Quest X will be releasing on the Nintendo NX. While Dragon Quest X is currently available in Japan, there is no official release date for western countries.
- 2K Games released a trailer showing off the original BioShock from the BioShock Remastered Collection. The remastered collection will include BioShock, BioShock 2, and BioShock Infinite running in 1080p and up to 60 FPS. It will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC on September 13.
- The NES Classic mini console will feature retro viewing mode to simulate old CRT televisions, a 4:3 aspect ration mode, and a pixel perfect mode where every pixel is displayed as a square. Also, all 30 games included in the console will feature both permanent and instant temporary saves where players can go back to where they left off after ending a game.
- The recently released 2TB version of the Xbox One S is selling out at most retailers and it's been reported that Microsoft isn't going to replenish stock. The 500GB and 1TB versions have been announced, but have not been released yet.
- Reports are surfacing that Sony will be unveiling the PS4 Neo at an event on September 7 in New York City. Sony has confirmed that they will be holding a special event in September, but no other specifics were given.
- Excited for Titanfall 2? Respawn announced that they will be live streaming a multiplayer match at Gamescom on August 16 on the Titanfall Twitch channel at 11:00am PT / 2:00pm ET.
- The final batch of DLC for Just Cause 3, the Bavarium Sea Heist, was released for season pass holders this week. It will be made available to purchase without the season pass on August 18 for $6.
- CD Projekt Red announced that the closed beta for Gwent has been delayed until October. The beta was originally planned for September, but the developer wants a little more time to work on the game.
- Encase you forgot, the wildly popular game No Man's Sky released earlier this week on PS4 and PC. Check out the launch trailer below!
- The time shifting game Quantum Break will be releasing on Steam on September 14 for $40.
- Justice prevails! Capcom announced that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney-Spirit of Justice will release for the Nintendo 3DS on September 8 for $29.99.
- Microsoft acquired the live streaming service Beam, but no specific details have been given as to how exactly the service will be integrated with Xbox and/or Windows 10.
- The mobile game Deus Ex: Go will release on August 18 on iOS and Android devices.
- Music streaming service Spotify launched and new gaming category called Spotify Gaming. The gaming specific category will include music from games and even special playlists.
- The Game of the Year Edition of Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released on August 30 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The Game of the Year Edition includes the main game, both expansions, and all free DLC.
