Weekly Wrap Up! (7/22/16)


- If you love Gears of War and also want a Xbox One Elite controller you are in luck! You can now pre-order the special limited edition Gears of War 4 Elite controller from GameStop and Microsoft Stores for $200. The special controller comes with an awesome Gears of War themed skin, thumbsticks, D-pad, and lazer etched claw marks. The controller also comes with three Gear Packs that can be used in the game for weapon skins, characters, emblems, and more.

- Interested in trying out the upcoming Bespin DLC for Star Wars Battlefront? DICE revealed that the trial for the DLC will take place August 19-21, with a follow up trial on September 12-18. The Bespin DLC will be available to purchase for $15 on its own, or it is part of the $50 season pass.

- A new gameplay trailer for episode one of Batman: The Telltale Series has been released. Episode one called "Realm of Shadows" will release on August 2 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PC, iOS, and Android.


- Gearbox announced the release date for the newest character for Battleborn. Known as Pendles, he is a snake-like creature designed as a rogue style character. Pendles will be available on July 28 for those with the season pass, then on August 4 for those without the season pass. 

- Fans of the horror games Amnesia and SOMA may be interested to know that developer Frictional Games is working on a new non-horror title. Thankfully, they have also said they are working on a new horror game as well.

- Rise of the Tomb Raider will finally release on the PS4 on October 11. Known as the 20 Year Celebration edition, it will come with all DLC content, a new Extreme Survivor difficulty mode, a special PSVR supported story mission, and an art book for anyone who pre-orders, and more. Also, if you've already purchased, or purchase, the season pass on Xbox One or PC, you'll get all of the new content (except for the PSVR mission) for free on October 11.


- Developer Psyonix revealed that Rocket League has reached 19 million players.

- Anxious in trying out the Dark Souls-like game Nioh? Developer Team Ninja announced that the beta for Nioh will be available to download on the PS4 beginning August 23 and will end on September 6.

- Cross-platform gaming is continuing to be pushed and supported by developers. Developer Psyonix stated that the feature for Rocket League is complete and CD Projekt Red stated they want to add the feature to Gwent. Both developers stated they only need Sony's approval to make it happen.

- No Man's Sky is undoubtedly about exploration, but there's combat to be had in the game as well. Check out the latest combat focused trailer below!


- Capcom confirmed that Dead Rising will be releasing on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Capcom further revealed that Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off The Record will be releasing on Xbox One and PS4. No official release date has been made.

- The 2TB version of the Xbox One S will release on August 2 for $399. The less expensive 500GB ($299) and 1TB ($349) models will be releasing at a later date this year, but it's rumored to be in August as well.

- During their latest Twitch stream, Bungie revealed a Gjallarhorn themed sparrow that will be available in the Rise of Iron expansion on September 20. Known as the Gjallarwing, the black and silver version will be available to anyone who pre-orders Rise of Iron.


- The free-to-play online survival arena Ark: Survival of the Fittest has been delayed on PS4. However, developer Studio Wildcard has stated that they are now working to release Ark: Survival Evolved sooner on the PS4.

- Last week Nintendo announced the NES Classic Edition mini console, and to add even more hype for it they released a totally rad retro themed trailer!
