Destiny: Rise of Iron Expansion Revealed

Bungie held a special live stream on their Twitch channel today to officially announce and reveal the upcoming Destiny expansion called Rise of Iron. The Rise of Iron expansion will allow players to travel to a new location on Earth called the Plaguelands where a new enemy awaits. Not only will players be treated to a new area, the new expansion also includes:

• New story missions
• A new raid
• A new strike mission
• A new social location called Felwinter Peak
• Light level increase
• New weapons and armor

Bungie was also eager to announce the return of the once highly coveted Gjallarhorn rocket launcher. Anyone who plays the Rise of Iron expansion will be able to forge their very own Gjallarhorn through a quest line, but those who pre-order the expansion will be able to receive the special Iron Gjallarhorn that comes in a sweet silver and black coloring. Bungie even released a special trailer just for the return of the Gjallarhorn.

The Rise of Iron expansion will require players to have the Taken King expansion, and Bungie also stated that it will only be available on Xbox One and PS4. So anyone who is playing Destiny on the Xbox 360 or PS3 and doesn't upgrade their version will only be able to play the current Destiny content.

More information on the expansion will be announced throughout the summer. Rise of Iron will release on September 20 on Xbox One and PS4 for $30. Get ready for some fresh content guardians!
