Weekly Wrap Up! (5/21/16)
- Hideo Kojima revealed the full logo for his new Kojima Productions company and said the name of the mascot is Ludence. The image of Ludence can be seen above.
- The Kickstarter campaign for the Dark Souls board game ended and was able to receive over $5 million in funding. Due to the high funding, the board game developer, Steamforged Games, stated that new playable characters, scenery pieces, bosses, and other cards will be added to the final game. As of now the Dark Souls board game is scheduled to release in April 2017.
- The latest update for the Xbox One version of Fallout 4 (available now) is set to prepare the game for the upcoming beta test for mod support next week. Mod support for the PS4 version of the game is expected to arrive sometime in June.
- Microsoft has canceled the game Project Spark and it is no longer available to download online. Anyone who already had Project Spark downloaded can continue playing the game until online services are fully shut down in August.
- The mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius will be making its way to Western audiences later this year. The game will be available for free on iOS and Android devices and will be playable at the Square Enix booth at E3 next month. People can pre-register to play the game on the game's website. - Sony officially announced that their E3 press conference will take place on Monday, June 13 at 6:00 p.m. (Pacific Time).
- Rumors have leaked, along with an image, regarding the next expansion for Destiny. The expansion is rumored to be called "Rise of Iron" and will include a new raid and is set to be larger than both year one DLC packs. Bungie has yet to comment on the rumors.
- Take-Two Interactive revealed that Grand Theft Auto V has sold 65 million copies since its launch.
- Capcom announced that since its January 2016 release, Resident Evil 0 HD has sold 800,000 digital copies.
- In preparation for the release of Overwatch next week, Blizzard Entertainment released a new animated short highlighting the rivalry between brothers Hanzo and Genji. Check out "Dragons" below.
- EA announced that they will be working with Coldwood Interactive again to create a sequel to the indie game Unravel. No word on a release date or specific platforms has been made.
- The side scrolling 2D Dark Souls-like game Salt and Sanctuary is now available on the PC.
- Warner Bros. officially announced that the Batman: Return to Arkham City remastered collection will release on July 29 on Xbox One and PS4 for $49.99. The remastered collection includes Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, and all released DLC and Game of The Year edition bonuses.
- The latest update for The Division is set to release on May 24. The 1.2 Conflict update will have: various patches, the new Clear Sky incursion, new gear sets and high end weapons, a new Dark Zone bracket, Search and Destroy missions in the Dark Zone, high value target missions, and players will now be able to hijack extracted loot bags inside the Dark Zone. - Microsoft announced that the original Call of Duty: Black Ops is now backwards compatible on Xbox One.
- Overwatch is releasing a day early! Physical copies of the game will release on Monday, May 23. Blizzard Entertainment said the early release it to ensure that all players have the game installed and ready for launch.
- The first free character for Battleborn will release on May 31st, or players who have the digital deluxe edition, season pass, or played the PS4 beta will get the new character on May 24. The new character is named Alani and she is a warrior-monk healer with the ability to control water to damage enemies and of course, heal fellow teammates. Also, Battleborn will have a double XP event going from May 20 until May 25.
- CD Projekt Red released a new trailer for Blood and Wine, the upcoming DLC expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The Blood and Wine expansion will include 40 new points of interest, 90 new quests, and contains well over 20 hours of content. It will be available May 31 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
