Game Spotlight: Overwatch

This week's Game Spotlight showcases Overwatch. Overwatch is a brand new IP from Blizzard Entertainment and strays away from the traditional themes of World of Warcraft and Starcraft that Blizzard fans have come to expect.

There is no traditional campaign in Overwatch, but the premise of the game is set in a near future Earth during a global crisis known as the "Onmni-Crisis". To help save humanity and bring peace to the world, the task force known as Overwatch was created. Over the years after Overwatch helped save humanity their influence began to weaken until they were disbanded. Now that crime and corruption is beginning to rise again, a call to Overwatch members is being sent out.

Overwatch is a team or squad based FPS game that pits two teams of six players against each other in fast paced matches in various game modes and maps set across the globe. The different game modes consist of: Assault, Control, Escort, and Assault/Escort. Each of the game modes contain an objective such as capturing and holding points and escorting payload vehicles.

Also, if you're a fan of a variety of characters, then Overwatch has you covered. Right now there are 21 different characters that all look and play completely different from one another with special weapons and abilities. The characters all fall into one of the following class categories: offense, defense, tank, and support (healer/buff provider). Overwatch also provides customization options as every time you level up you'll unlock a loot crate. Loot crates contain a randomized set of customization features such as character outfits, victory poses/phrases, and more.

So grab some friends, try out some super cool characters, and unlock those loot crates because Overwatch is available now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Check out the gameplay trailer below.
