Weekly Wrap Up! (4/15/16)
- The Doom open beta is now available from April 15-17 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The open beta will allow players to try out the Team Deathmatch and Warpath game modes on the Infernal and Heatwave maps.
- Console fans of the survival game Don't Starve may be happy to know that the Shipwrecked expansion will release on the Xbox One and PS4 this spring. No official release date has been announced.
- The PS Vita exclusive dungeon crawler game Severed will release on April 26 for $15. A new release date trailer was released too.
- According to Microsoft, Quantum Break has had the highest first weekend sales of any other new IP for the Xbox One, and has become the biggest selling new IP for the Xbox One.
- A report is showing the while GTA 5's Online mode is free, the optional microtransactions in the game have brought in about $500 million in sales.
- The next big system update for the Xbox One that was mentioned the end of March is set to release to Preview Program members sometime in late May. Some of the big features of the next update allow all Xbox One consoles to act as developer kits, Cortana voice support, and more.
- Respawn released a teaser trailer for Titanfall 2 that lists a worldwide announcement for the game on June 12. Can you say giant mech sword?!
- Farming game Stardew Valley has sold over one million copies since it's February release.
- Bandai Namco has confirmed that the first piece of DLC for Dark Souls 3 will release this autumn. The new content will include new bosses/enemies, maps, weapons, and gear sets. The season pass for Dark Souls 3 is available for $25.
- The first content update for The Division was released earlier this week that brought several changes like loot trading, gear sets, and the new raid-like incursion activity. Check out the trailer below.
- Microsoft announced that their E3 press conference will take place on Monday, June 13 at 9:30am (Pacific).
- A rumored game map for Red Dead Redemption 2 surfaced online but was taken down, and it's been stated that the game will be a prequel.
- Developers at Coalition Studios have released a teaser video on the Gears of War 4 YouTube channel showing off the new Dropshot weapon's execution. Check out the crazy finisher below.
- While Fable Legends was cancelled last month, the online servers for beta testers have officially shut down. Microsoft has started refunding money to anyone who purchased in-game currency and hadn't spent it.
- Dark Souls 3 officially released this week and has already caused players to die constantly, rage, and yet still love the game even more. Encase you missed it, the launch trailer was also released and it shows of some of the games deadly enemies.
