Weekly Wrap Up! (2/26/16)
- Excited for Dark Souls 3? Plan on buying the game digitally? Well good news! Bandai Namco has released information on what goodies you'll get from pre-ordering it digitally. Anyone who pre-orders the game on the PlayStation Store will receive the Dark Souls 3 soundtrack (available April 12) and a Fire Fades dynamic theme. Pre-orders on the Xbox Marketplace will receive a free digital copy of the original Dark Souls game. Finally, pre-orders for the PC version on Steam will also get a digital copy of the Dark Souls 3 soundtrack.
- After people voted in Sony's latest Vote to Play poll, Broforce won the vote and will be free for PlayStation Plus members beginning March 1. The two other games that were up for vote, Assault Android Cactus and Action Henk, will be 30% off from March 1-21.
- Bethesda Director Todd Howard stated that mods for the PC version of Fallout 4 will be available in April. Howard also stated that it would be at least a month afterwards for mod support to come to Xbox One, and another month following for PS4.
- An image from the Xbox Store shows that the download size for Quantum Break will be 44.09 GB.
- The Solus Project was added to the Xbox One's Game Preview Program and is described as a sci-fi, narrative focused, survival adventure game. The final version of the game is scheduled to release this spring on the Xbox One and PC.
- Microsoft announced that anyone who pre-orders the new Doom game on Xbox One will also get Doom 1 and Doom II free.
- Ubisoft reported that over 6.4 million people played The Division open beta this past weekend and that it was the biggest beta for a new game on current gen systems. Also, players spent an average of five hours in the PvE area, and two hours in the Dark Zone. Finally, Ubisoft shared that almost 50% of players went rogue and that 63,309,800 contaminated loot items were extracted in the Dark Zone during the beta.
- Ubisoft released a new patch for Rainbow Six: Siege that will allow players to be matched with others closer to their rank, and improve and balance teams.
- A new story trailer for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End was released this week. Check it out below!
- A new update for Star Wars Battlefront was released this week. The latest update added a new map on Hoth called Twilight. Also, a new survival mission in the Ice Caves has been added to the Survival Missions. Finally, the Turning Point game mode is now available on Endor, Outpost Beta, SoroSuub Centroplex. and Jundland Wastes. There were also several other fixes with the update.
- Sony began sending out invites to a special press event regarding the PlayStation VR. The event will be on March 15 in San Francisco and is said to provide hands on demos for those attending. Expect to hear more news during and after the event.
- The free Games With Gold for the month of March have been revealed for Xbox. Xbox One owners can download Lords of the Fallen and Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments. Xbox 360 owners can download Borderlands and Supreme Commander 2.
- Encase you weren't excited for The Division, a new gameplay trailer for the PC version was released to show off the visual optimizations. Check out the awesomeness below.
- In more Dark Souls 3 news, Prima Games is releasing a special edition of the Dark Souls 3 guidebook. The $130 limited special edition includes a hardcover version of the game guide with special dust jacket, a small replica of Wolf Knight's Greatsword, a 192 page Darksign Journal, and a resin emerald Estus Flask.
- Resident Evil 4, 5, and 6 are coming to the Xbox One and PS4. Resident Evil 6 will release on March 29, followed by Resident Evil 5 this summer, and Resident Evil 4 this fall. Each game will cost $20.
- A new trademark for "Alan Wake's Return" was spotted and had been filed on February 23. No official word or details have been released by Remedy.
- Rocket League is teaming up with Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice by releasing a DLC pack that include the Batmobile and three new antenna flags (Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman). The DLC pack will be available beginning March 8 and will cost $2. Check out the Batmobile in action below.
