Weekly Wrap Up! (12/18/15)
- Studio Wildcard announced that a local two player split-screen mode will be available on the Xbox One version of Ark: Survival Evolved through an update sometime in early 2016.
- Lionhead Studios announced that they have delayed the open beta for Fable Legends until Spring 2016 and it will not release this holiday as originally planned. The closed beta will still continue to take place so that the developers can gather feedback from players.
- Microtransactions will be making their way to Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 in the form of Call of Duty Points. These points can be purchased with real money in order to get addition liquid divinium vials in zombie mode, and additional supply drops in multiplayer. The Call of Duty Points will be available on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
- Fans of Turok will be glad to know that a remastered version of the original Nintendo 64 game is now available for PC on Steam. Check out the trailer below.
- A rating by the ESRB has indicated that a port of Super Mario Galaxy could be coming to the Wii U through the eShop.
- Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has said that despite new shipments of the Xbox One Elite controller being sent out to stores, the demand continues to rise and some people may still have trouble finding one this holiday season.
- Amazon France has listed the release date of the PC version of Rise of the Tomb Raider as January 29, 2016.
- Bungie is now offering players the change to boost their Titan, Warlock, or Hunter in Destiny instantly to level 25. The level boost costs $30 and can only be used once on one character. Offering players the chance to level boost their character is nothing new since games like World of Warcraft have offered the same thing for a while.
- It was announced that Bayonetta will be the last new character added to the roster of fighters in Super Smash Bros. and will be available sometime in February. Players will be able to buy the Bayonetta character for $6 for Wii U or 3DS, or just $7 for both platforms. Check her in action in the trailer below.
- Hideo Kojima has officially ended his employment with Konami. Kojima Productions has already announced a partnership with Sony to develop a new game exclusive for PlayStation.
- A new patch for Rainbow Six Siege was released that added a visual upgrade, game balances, and a new feature that will auto-kick players who intentionally kill teammates or hostages in defense games.
- Konami has listed on the career section of their website that they are looking for developers to help create a new Metal Gear game.
- The tactical RPG The Banner Saga will release on Xbox One and PS4 on January 12, 2016. The developers stated that while they didn't have any news on the PS Vita version at this time, it has not been canceled.
- Rumors had been surfacing about Rare Replay releasing on the Wii U, but Rare officially commented that the game is exclusive to Xbox One.
- Rocket League has earned nearly $50 million since it released on the PS4 and PC.
- The Xbox One indie game Below has been delayed until 2016.
- The survival game The Long Dark will be getting a new story mode that includes two new playable characters and new areas. Developer Hinterland Studio announced that the first part of the story mode will release in Spring 2016 and last around 3-4 hours. Additional story episodes will be released lasting around 2-3 hours. Anyone who has backed the game on Kickstarter or the Xbox Preview Program will get the story mode at no additional cost. The game costs $19.99.
