Games to be Thankful For

Thanksgiving is upon us and with it comes great times with family, friends, delicious food, and of course time for gaming. With the holidays around, you may be sharing your game time with family members or friends. Here's a list of some games that provide for some fun co-op experiences for everyone to enjoy. After all, video games are more fun when the experience is shared with others.

Star Wars Battlefront (Xbox One, PS4, PC)

What's more enjoyable than running around a planet while ships fly overhead, AT-STs march around, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader clash, and Rebel and Imperial forces fill the battlefield? You can experience all of that and more in Star Wars Battlefront. The game looks absolutely stunning and the level of detail from planets, vehicles, and sound design is perfect. There's a variety of game modes to enjoy such as Squadron Fighter, Heroes vs Villains, Walker Assault, and more. Even better, you can team up with a family member or friend in online multiplayer, or local split screen co-op missions. If you're looking for a fast paced, fun, and true Star Wars experience you should definitely be playing this game now. May the force be with you.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III (Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, PC)

The Call of Duty series is back (again) this year and it's time to gather your family and friends around some quality Black Ops III time. Black Ops III introduces new movement system that allows players to run along walls, boost jump, and more. Also, a new character based system where players can pick from different classes with special weapons and abilities. A much welcomed addition to the campaign is Treyacrh bringing back co-op. You and up to three partners can team up and complete the game's campaign together. Then there's all of the fast paced and addicting multiplayer action to look forward to. If you want to team up and slay some zombies then fear not. The always challenging zombie mode is there there . Get out there soldier and start ranking up and unlocking all the weapons, attachments, perks, and skills you can handle.

Halo 5: Guardians (Xbox One)

Everyone's favorite Spartan is back! That's right, Master Chief is ready to slay some Covenant and Promethian forces in Halo 5: Guardians. In addition to playing as Master Chief, players will get to take the reins of a new Spartan named Agent Locke and experience two sides to the campaign story. Best of all, you can team up with three other players online for co-op throughout the campaign. Halo 5: Guardians brings new movement mechanics to the game such as power slams, dashing forwards, and more. Also, players can earn special REQ cards that unlock special weapons and perks to use in multiplayer battles. While competitive multiplayer is restricted to one player on the same console, you can still take turns with friends and family in the various game modes including the brand new large scaled Warzone mode. Gear up Spartans!

Rock Band 4 (Xbox One, PS4)

The family that rocks together stays together right? Well if that's the case then Rock Band 4 has you covered. Fans of the music franchise will feel right at home while new players will be able to jump right into the game. Much like the other games in the series, Rock Band 4 allows you and three other players to come together and form a righteous band. Of course, you'll either need previous versions of the instruments, or purchase the bundle that comes with the new instruments. There are tons of music tracks to select from so almost everyone's musical tastes can be pleased. Grab your lead guitar, bass, drums, and warm up those vocal chords. You've got some rocking to do!

Guitar Hero Live (Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U)

Can't get enough of those face melting guitar solos? Great! Guitar Hero Live has you covered. As with Rock Band 4, Guitar Hero Live follows closely to the other games in the series. So if you're familiar with the previous games you'll be able to jump in and start shredding like a rock god. A new twist on the series is that while you are playing your songs, you play in front of a "live" crowd. You can see the crowd and your fellow band members cheer if you're playing great, or boo you for playing bad. Also, if you've got a second guitar you and another player can live out your fantasies of rocking out on stage together.

Mario Kart 8 (Wii U)

Yes Mario Kart 8 has been out for over a year and if you have a Wii U you've more than likely played it. If you have a Wii U and don't have Mario Kart 8 go out and get it now! This is a fun racing game for any skill level and age. All of your favorite characters from the Mario universe are in the game (including some new characters) and ready to speed along in their karts and attack other racers with fun pickups from boxes. You can also drive motorbikes, soar in hang gliders, and even race along walls and ceilings with anti-gravity driving. There are tons of tracks to race on including many favorite tracks from previous Mario Kart games. Mario Kart 8 will provide plenty of fun and leave a smile on everyone's face.

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare (Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, PC)

Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare is another game that has been out for over a year now, but it doesn't make the game any less fun. This game is fun for any age and is especially good for any parents not wanting their kids to play an overly mature shooting game. Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare takes the premise of the original mobile game, but flips it into a third person shooter. Players can play as either the plants or zombies, and each side has different characters with special attacks and abilities. Much like other multiplayer shooters, you will rank up your characters to unlock new abilities, but you can also earn in game tokens to purchase sticker packs to unlock even more customizations for your characters. You can team up with three other players online, or play with another person in the same room (exclusive to Xbox One and PS4). Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare is a fun and humorous game that you definitely should try.

So that's just a small list of some games you and your family and friends can enjoy playing together over the Thanksgiving season, and really any time. Besides these games, what other games do you like playing with friends and family?
