Weekly Wrap Up! (8/15/15)
- Capcom announced that they are indeed working on a remake of Resident Evil 2, but there's been no word on a release date or on which platforms the remake will be available on.
- The expansion for Pillars of Eternity will release on August 25. The expansion is called The White March - Part I and can be played even if players haven't finished the main game. The expansion adds a new realm to discover, abilities, companions, and increases the level cap.
- Fans of the classic NES game A Boy and His Blob will be glad to hear that Majesco Games is working on a new entry to the series. Not a lot of information has been given other than the game will release on all next generation consoles and PC.
- EA said they are investigating the possibility of adding Xbox 360 games to their EA Access service due to the backwards compatibility of the Xbox One.
- A new multiplayer trailer for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 beta was released this week. The beta will take place on the PS4 from August 19-23, and then on Xbox One and PC on August 26-30. The trailer shows that the beta will include three maps and seven modes. Check it out below.
- Developer Grin has filed bankruptcy and is no more. The second chapter of their Kickstarter game Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries will not be made. Even more, they have said they don't even have the money to pay for postage to send out the rewards to those who helped fund the game on Kickstarter.
- It was revealed that Showtime is still working on the Halo TV series, but unfortunately no official word on when people can expect to see it.
- Microsoft announced that the Xbox One's free TV DVR service will launch first in the US, Canada, and UK in early 2016.
- The new box art for Quantum Break was released and features the game's main protagonist Jack Joyce played by actor Shawn Ashmore.
- A new feature of the PS4's 3.0 firmware update includes the ability to broadcast and stream gameplay content to YouTube, as well as short video clips to Twitter.
- Telltale Games revealed that episode four of Tales from the Borderlands will release on August 18 on the PS4, PS3, PC, and Mac. It will then release on August 19 on Xbox One and Xbox 360. Finally, the mobile version will release on August 20.
- A new gameplay trailer for Mad Max was released that shows off the multiple ways players can complete game objectives. Mad Max releases September 1 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
- The MOBA Smite will leave open beta and officially launch on August 19 on Xbox One.
- Fans of the game Divinity: Original Sin will be glad to know that developer Larian Studios announced that beginning August 26, a Kickstarter campaign will begin to help fund Divinity: Original Sin 2.
- Bungie announced some of the changes coming to strike missions in Destiny when the Taken King expansion releases. Bungie is planning on making the strikes feel more like mini raids, such as one strike requiring one player to carry an object to parts of the map to weaken the boss, while the other two fireteam members shoot the boss. Also, running the same strike multiple times will be different since different enemies will spawn in locations.
- Techland released a trailer for the upcoming Dying Light expansion called The Following. The expansion features a new large open world two explore, a new skill tree, new missions, and vehicles. While no release date has been announced, The Following expansion will cost $15 on its own, or is part of the Dying Light expansion pass.
