Weekly Wrap Up! (7/24/15)
- Activision announced that the Black Ops 3 beta for Xbox One and PC will begin on August 26 and run until August 30. Previously announced, the PS4 beta begins on August 19 and runs until August 23.
- The Kickstarter campaign for Shenmue 3 is over and it was a total success. It was so much of a success that it holds the record for the highest funded video game, raising over $6.3 million and had a little over 69,000 people backing it.
- Xbox One owners who subscribe to EA Access will get to play Star Wars Battlefront before everyone else. Exactly how early hasn't been stated.
- Nintendo of America will be publishing Devil's Third and bringing to the Americas sometime by the end of 2015. The Wii U version will include a multiplayer mode as well as the single player mode. Devil's Third will be available in Japan on August 4, 2015 and in Europe on August 28, 2015.
- Do you have a PS4 but wish you had a remote to watch movies and tv shows with? Well good news! An official media remote for the PS4 is set to launch this fall for $30. The remote will also be able to control your TV, set-top box, and any audio receiver.
- A port of the PS3 game Journey is now available on the PS4 and has
been upgraded to support 1080p and 60fps. The game supports cross-buy,
so if you've already purchased Journey on the PS3 you'll be able to
download the PS4 version for free.
- Knights of the Old Republic 2 has been released for Mac, SteamOS, and Linux. The PC version of the game received a large update as well. The game now supports 5K resolution, widescreen, and achievements.
- The PC version of Gears of War: Ultimate Edition will be released sometime after the Xbox One edition which releases on August 25.
- The Rare Replay collection is releasing on August 4 on Xbox One and a new launch trailer has been released. The Rare Replay collection is only $30 and contains 30 games such as Battletoads, Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and Banjo Kazooie.
- Phil Spencer revealed that keyboard and mouse support for the Xbox One is currently being worked on and will indeed arrive, but no official date has been made.
- The release date for the PS4 and PC version of Rise of the Tomb Raider has been narrowed down. Square Enix announced that the PC version will arrive sometime in early 2016, while due to the Xbox exclusivity, the PS4 version won't arrive until sometime in holiday 2016.
- EA announced that they will reveal a new game mode for Battlefield Hardline next month at Gamescom. The new game mode is part of the upcoming Robbery expansion.
- Developer The Coalition announced that Gears of War: Ultimate Edition has gone gold and that it is available to pre-download on Xbox One. Check out the game's opening cinematic!
- The Wii U version of Project Cars has officially been cancelled. The developer stated the cancellation was due to the game being too much for the Wii U to handle, and that the progress that was made did not live up to their standards.
- Microsoft announced that their Gamescom press conference will be streamed live on Xbox Live. The conference will begin at 7:00am Pacific on August 4. Some of the games to be shown are Quantum Break, Scalebound, Crackdown, as well as new game announcements for Xbox One and Windows 10.
- A Fallout Anthology was announced for the PC. The anthology will include every Fallout game made so far, included DLC for Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. It also includes a Fat Man mini nuke replica that makes sound. The Fallout Anthology will cost $50 and will be available on September 29 in North America, October 1 in Australia, and October 2 in Europe.
- The next batches of Elder Scrolls Online DLC was announced at Quakecon. Along with the already announced Imperial City DLC releasing August 31, there will be three more DLC packs released quarterly. After Imperial City, the next DLC will be Orsinium, then the Thieve's Guild, and finally the Dark Brotherhood DLC.
- Five Nights at Freddy's 4 has been released on Steam and of course a new trailer has made its way to the interwebs. Check it out and make sure you have all the lights on!
