Weekly Wrap Up! (11/21/14)
- Blizzard revealed that Warlords of Draenor sold more than 3.3 million copies in the first 24 hours. Also, with the increase of sales World of Warcraft has increased the number of subscribers from 7.7 million to over 10 million subscribers.
- Laura Croft and the Temple of Osiris has officially gone gold and will release digitally on December 9 on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
- Microsoft announced that the media streaming apps HBO Go, Crunchyroll, MOVIEPLEX Play, and Encore Play are now available on the Xbox One.
- After suffering launch issues with the World of Warcraft expansion, Warlords of Draenor, Blizzard has granted all players an additional five days of game time.
- EA CFO Blake Jorgensen commented that the next Battlefield game (set to release in 2016) will return the franchise to its military style concept.
- The non-combat MMO Wander is set to release on the PS4 and PC in March 2015. In Wander players will take control of a griffin, sentient tree, and sea creature. Take a look at the trailer below.
- Activision announced that people will be able to download a free trial of Destiny on the Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PS3. The trial is 40GB and allows players to access the Earth story and patrol missions, as well as the Earth strike. Any progress made in the trial will transfer to the full version if players decide to purchase it either digitally or a physical copy.
- The Wii U version of Watch Dogs will receive two DLC packs that will be available in the eShop. The Access Granted pack will contain extra missions, skills, and outfits. The Conspiracy pack will contain an extra augmented reality game. Watch Dogs for the Wii U is available now.
- EA and Respawn Entertainment have announced the Titanfall: Deluxe Edition for the Xbox One and PC. The deluxe edition contains all three DLC packs as well as all updates for the game. The deluxe edition is available now on the PC for $40, and will release digitally on the Xbox One on November 25 for $50.
- Activision announced that Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare had the largest revenue launch of any entertainment product released this year. Also, it was reported that the Call of Duty franchise has sold over $10 billion since it first launched in 2003.
- The opening cinematic for Destiny's upcoming expansion, The Dark Below, leaked on YouTube. Feast your eyes on it below!
- Love Shadow of Mordor? Good, because the game has received some free DLC this week. The Power of Defiance DLC includes a new challenge mode, an epic rune, and the Lithariel player skin.
- Bungie announced that anyone who buys the Dark Below expansion for Destiny by January 15 will receive the EV-30 Tumbler sparrow that allows you to pull of barrel rolls, flips, and other tricks in the air.
- Developer Moon Studios announced that Ori and the Blind Forest has been delayed until early 2015 to allow more time to polish the game.
- Love indie games? Make sure to check out the game Never Alone. In the game players take the role of a Inupiat girl and her arctic fox as they cross through the Alaskan landscape. The game features puzzles and a platforming style experience. Never Alone is available now on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC for $15. Check out the launch trailer below.
