Weekly Wrap Up! (8/8/14)
- Microsoft confirmed they will be releasing a white Xbox One that is bundled with Sunset Overdrive. It will retail for $399 and will not include the Kinect. An official release date hasn't been made but since Sunset Overdrive releases on October 28, it's probably at the same time.
- Assassin's Creed: Rogue will be coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 11. Assassin's Creed Rogue puts players in the role of the Templar, Shay Patrick Cormac, and are sent to stop the Assassins.
- Capcom announced that the classic survival horror game Resident Evil will be getting an HD remake in early 2015. It will be available as a digital download and the Xbox One, PS4, and PC versions will feature 1080p resolution, while the last gen consoles will have 720p as the resolution. All versions will support 5.1 surround sound.
- Nintendo revealed that Ganondorf will be a playable character in Hyrule Warriors. Hyrule Warriors will release on September 26 for the Wii U.
- Nyko announced that they will be releasing console mountable controller charging stations for the PS4 and Xbox One this fall. The Xbox One charging station comes with two rechargeable batteries and will cost $30. The PS4 charging station will cost $20. The charging stations will connect via the consoles' USB port.
- Turtle Rock Studios and 2K delayed the release of Evolve until February 10, 2015 to allow more time to develop and fine tune the game.
- The multiplayer co-op Intercept DLC for Killzone: Shadow Fall is now available as a stand alone purchase in the PlayStation Store. Players can download and play the DLC without even owning a copy of the full game. The Intercept DLC is $20 and includes four maps with more planned to be released.
- World of Warcraft has lost 800,000 subscribers since March 31. The game still has 6.8 million subscribers and Blizzard said they expect the number to rise with the release of the Warlords of Draenor expansion this fall. Blizzard also shared that they have already sold 1.5 million pre-order units of the upcoming expansion.
- Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition for the Xbox One and PS4 will release on October 10. Square Enix has said the Definitive Edition will run at 1080p and include 24 pieces of DLC.
- Blizzard announced that the Xbox One version of Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition will be available in 1080p with a day one patch. The patch will boost the game from 900p to full 1080p.
- Square Enix revealed the special collector's Gold Edition of Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris. The Gold Edition will contain a Lara figurine, map of Overworld, art book, and the season pass. The Gold Edition will be available for the Xbox One (North America only), PS4, and PC.
- Crytek annouced that they will be releasing Ryse: Son of Rome on the PC later this year. The PC version will include all previously released DLC from the Xbox One version, and will also support 4K resolution.
- Respawn Entertainment announced that they will reveal details about Titanfall's third map pack next Wednesday (August 13) during EA's press conference at Gamescom.
- Casey Hudson, the executive producer of the Mass Effect series, has left BioWare.
- STARZ has released a streaming app on the Xbox One called STARZ Play. This app allows STARZ subscribers access to a lot of movies and original series.
- The latest trailer for the zombie parkour survival game Dying Light was released this week and makes note of four player co-op. Check it out the trailer for swarms of zombies and plenty of ways to take them out.
