Weekly Wrap Up! (8/29/14)
- Amazon bought the live video game streaming site Twitch for approximately $970 million. Amazon is set to take control over Twitch later this year.
- Don't Starve will be released on the PS Vita on September 2, and will cost $15. If you already own the PS4 version you can download the PS Vita version for free, and vice-versa.
- Bungie has confirmed that players will not be able to trade items amongst one another in Destiny. Bungie said they want players to earn their gear and weapons. Players will be able to trade items between their own characters.
- The second piece of DLC for Dark Souls 2 was released this week. The "Crown of the Iron King" DLC lets players explore a new area that is filled with lava. The DLC is available on PSN, Xbox Live, and Steam for $10, or as part of the game's season pass.
- Microsoft announced that the Kinect sensor will be available to purchase starting October 7 for $150 and will include a copy of Dance Central Spotlight.
- BioWare revealed that Dragon Age Inquisition will have a four player co-op multiplayer mode. At launch, there will be three multiplayer campaigns and nine playable characters. Players can earn gold that can be spent on treasure chests for new gear, recipes, and more. Best of all, the multiplayer DLC will be free!
- Bungie announced that Destiny has gone gold and said that the discs are being pressed and packaged into crates.
- A Ubisoft representative stated that The Crew will run at 1080p and 30 frames per second on both the Xbox One and PS4.
- While it was announced back a little earlier this year, Digital Extremes confirmed that Warframe will release as a digital download on the Xbox One on September 2. Just like the PC and PS4 version, the Xbox One version will be free to play.
- A demo for Forza Horizon 2 will be available on the Xbox One starting September 16.
- Sony announced the free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers for the month of September. PS4 owners will get Velocity 2X and Sportsfriends. The PS3 will be getting PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale and Hoard. Finally, the PS Vita will get Joe Danger and TkX.
- A new trailer for Destiny shows off the PlayStation exclusive (until fall 2015) content. Take a look at all the goodies in the trailer.
- Developer Deep Silver confirmed that Escape Dead Island will release on November 18 in North America, and November 21 in all other territories. Escape Dead Island's story fills in the gap between the first and second Dead Island games. It will be available for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
- Microsoft announced the free Games With Gold titles for the month of September. The Xbox One will be getting Super TIME Force, and the Xbox 360 will get Monaco and Halo: Reach.
- Ubisoft has delayed the release date of Assassin's Creed Unity to November 11 in North America and November 13 in Europe. Ubisoft said they delayed the release date to work on polishing the game.
- Respawn Entertainment shed some light on the sixth update to Titanfall. The latest update will include a new game mode called Pilot Skirmish which removes Titans and AI and allows for 8v8 multiplayer matches. Also with the update comes several new bug fixes, balances, updates to the Black Market, and Marked for Death will become a permanent game mode.
- State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition will be coming to the Xbox One in Spring 2015. The new version will be in 1080p and include all previous add-ons as well as brand new content.
- Nintendo confirmed that the Wii U exclusive Bayonetta 2 will release on October 24 in North America and will also include the original game.
