Weekly Wrap Up! (8/15/14)




- Bungie revealed some info on Destiny's first DLC expansion called The Dark Below. The Dark Below expansion is set to release this December and will include its on story, strike mission, new armor, gear, weapons, and more. Bungie commented that some parts of the expansion will connect to areas you've been before so that you may run into other players who are working on the main story, which will create a constant social interaction to the game.

- 343 Industries announced the Halo Channel for Xbox. The Halo Channel will serve as a central hub for watching Halo videos, previews, behind the scenes features, Halo: Nightfall, and more. The Halo Channel will launch later this year.

- Lionhead Studios revealed that Fable Legends will start its closed beta on October 16. 

- Blizzard announced that the latest expansion for World of Warcraft, Warlords of Draenor, will release on November 13. 

- Microsoft revealed during their press conference at Gamescom that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be a timed Xbox One exclusive. No word on how long it will be an exclusive.



- The Xbox One exclusive open beta for Evolve will be available in January.

- Sony revealed the PS4's 2.0 firmware update at Gamescom. One of the big features of the update is the SharePlay feature. SharePlay will give people the ability to "share" and play a game with a friend who doesn't even own the game. SharePlay is limited to 60 minute play sessions though. The 2.0 firmware update is scheduled to release sometime soon.

- Activision announced that Destiny has the highest number of pre-orders of any other new IP in history.

- Ubisoft revealed that there will be microtransactions in Assassin's Creed Unity. Players will be able to buy gear in game with real money. While it's not necessary to actually buy any of the gear, Ubisoft hasn't shown the microstransactions in detail yet.

- The PlayStation TV will be released in North America on October 14 and in Europe on November 14. The PlayStation TV will cost $100.

- Remedy finally revealed a gameplay trailer for Quantum Break at Gamescom. Take a look at the awesome time bending action below.



- Killer Instinct: Season 2 will be released on October 15 for Xbox One. The Ultra Edition will cost $40 and includes eight new characters, costumes, accessories, and Killer Instinct Classic 2. The Combo Breaker Edition will cost $20 and include the eight new characters.

- The third and final map pack for Titanfall was announced. Known as IMC Rising, the DLC will include the maps Zone 18, Blackwater, and Sandtrap. The map pack is scheduled to release this fall as part of the season pass, or for $10 separately.

- Ubisoft announced that The Crew will also be releasing on Xbox 360 on November 11. Also, a closed beta is scheduled for late September for the Xbox One and PS4. Ubisoft said that the reason The Crew isn't coming to the PS3 or Wii U is because the Xbox 360 has similarities with the Xbox One and PS4 in its infrastructure that made it easier to port.

- Interested in Bethesda's horror game The Evil Within? Well, Bethesda announced that they will be releasing a season pass for the game that will include three pieces of DLC and will cost $20.

-  A Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Xbox One bundle was announced. It will release on November 3rd and include a 1 TB hard drive and a digital copy of the game. It retails for $499 and is available for preorder on Amazon.
