Weekly Wrap Up! (3/22/14)
- During the Games Developer Conference, Sony revealed their virtual
reality headset known as Project Morpheus (pictured above). The headset will feature a
1080p display and full 360 degree head tracking. PlayStation President Shuhei Yoshida said that it would not be releasing in 2014. No specific price has been mentioned yet.
- Gameloft revealed that their racing game Asphalt 8: Airborne will allow players to live stream gameplay to Twitch via a game update. Players will be able to use the microphone and front facing camera in their iOS device during the Twitch stream.
- The release of Titanfall almost doubled the sales of Xbox One consoles in the UK last week. 70 percent of Xbox One consoles sold were the Titanfall bundle.
- A gamer reached the maximum level in Titanfall just after 3 days and 9 hours of play time. Over half of the game time was spent playing the attrition mode (team deathmatch).
- Nintendo announced that Animal Crossing: New Leaf has sold over 7.3 million copies.
- Developer CD Projekt Red announced that they are working on a multiplatform mobile game that is scheduled to release later this year. No specific title or other information has been announced.
- PopCap games released the first free DLC for Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare. The DLC added the new Gnome Bomb game mode, new character abilities and customizations, and the Chomp Town map.
- Respawn Entertainment stated via Twitter that they do have anti-cheat measures in place for Titanfall, but they haven't been deployed. Respawn did say that would be happening soon though.
- Reports are claiming that Microsoft is working on a virtual reality headset that will work with the Xbox One and Xbox 360.
- Sony released media apps for Crunchyroll, NHL Gamecenter Live, and Qello for the PS Vita. Sony also said that the PS Vita will be getting apps for Hulu Plus, Redbox Instant, and Gaiam TV this spring.
- Two new Assassin's Creed games are in the works. One of the games is codenamed Unity has been confirmed by Ubisoft and is said to be set in 18th century Paris, and is releasing for the Xbox One and PS4. The other game is codenamed Comet and is said to be releasing on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Both Unity and Comet are rumored to be releasing this fall. Here's the teaser trailer for Unity.
- Blizzard officially shut down the Diablo III auction house. Players cannot bid, buyout, or list new items for sale. Players can still access the real money auction house as of now, but Blizzard has said that all items must be claimed by June 24.

- EA announced that the Xbox 360 version of Titanfall has been delayed until April 8 in North America and April 11 in Europe. EA says this will give Bluepoint a little more time to polish the game.
- Deep Silver revealed that Sacred 3 will be releasing on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on August 26 in North America, and also released a new gameplay trailer.
