Weekly Wrap Up! (2/21/14)
- Bethesda announced that Wolfenstein: The New Order will release on
May 20 in North America and May 23 in Europe. Players who pre-order the
game will get access to the new Doom beta presumably sometime this year.
Wolfenstein: The New Order will be available on the Xbox One, PS4, Xbox
360, PS3, and PC.
- Developer Young Horses confirmed that Octodad: Dadliest Catch is scheduled to release for the PS4 in April. They also mentioned a Xbox One version is under consideration.
- Blizzard announced that Diablo 3 will be getting some new social features in the Reaper of Souls expansion in the form of clans and communities. Clans will act more like MMO guilds with a limit of 120 members, while communities are more casual ways to group up with others for any kind of task. Both the clans a communities will offer players more ways to group up with friends and go after that sweet loot.
- In a recent interview, Cliff Bleszinki said he will never make a disc based game again.
- Zombie Studios' horror game Daylight will release on the PS4 and PC on April 8 and will cost $14.99.
- Microsoft announced that the cooperative gladiator mode editor will not be coming to Ryse: Son of Rome as originally planned. Microsoft said they still plan to support the game through free content updates and paid dlc.
- Microsoft announced that the Xbox One media remote will release in early March for $24.99. The remote will allow control for video playback and has a Xbox One guide button.
- Square Enix revealed that their upcoming stealth game Thief will have a resolution of 1080p on the PS4 and 900p on the Xbox One. Both versions of the game will run at 30 frames per second. The game director of Thief said that they couldn't really tell the difference and that the "issue" with resolution difference is becoming bigger than it really should.
- Sony announced that 5.3 million PS4's have been sold worldwide as of February 8. The number will increase with the PS4 launching in Japan.
- Warner Bros. announced that Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will release on the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, and PC on April 1 in North America and April 2 in Europe.
- Co-founder of Irrational Games Ken Levine announced that the studio would be closing. All but 15 people will loose their jobs as Take-Two Interactive and Levine focus on a smaller project.
- According to the box art for inFAMOUS: Second Son, the game will require 24GB for the installation.
- An update to Killzone: Mercenary allows for players to get two free multiplayer maps. The two free maps are from Killzone 2 and are Blood Gracht and Tharsis Depot.
- Ready at Dawn revealed a new trailer for their game The Order: 1886. The game is still scheduled to release sometime this year. Check out the trailer below.
