Weekly Wrap Up! (12/20/13)
- Mojang released the PS3 version of Minecraft earlier this week in North America and Europe. There is still no official release date on the PS4 and PS Vita version as of now.
- Warner Bros. released the Hunter, Hunted multiplayer mode to Batman: Arkham Origins. This is a 3v3v1 game mode that puts a team of Bane's thugs, Joker's thugs, and Batman against each other. The Hunter, Hunted mode is a free download.
- The Freedom Cry dlc for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is now available to download. The dlc lets players play as Kenyway's quartermaster Adewale and includes a new story that lasts more than four hours. The Freedom Cry dlc costs $9.99 by itself, or is included in the season pass.
- The original Tomb Raider is now available for iOS devices and only costs $0.99. Square Enix said it is the full game as well as two additional chapters that were found in the 1998 re-release.
- Microsoft announced that the first indie games created through their ID@Xbox self publishing program will be released sometime in the first quarter of 2014.
- Nintendo announced Hyrule Warriors, which combines the mechanics of the Dynasty Warriors games but features Link along with other The Legend of Zelda enemies and weapons. It's expected to release in 2014 for the Wii U.
- Konami released the box art to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. The game is being released on February 25 in North America for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
- New free and paid dlc was released for Ryse: Son of Rome. The free dlc adds two new events to the gladiator mode that includes an enemy turret that launches arrows, and statues of Roman deities that can boost your health and focus. The Colosseum Pack adds two new arenas and character skins. The Colosseum Pack is $3.99 by itself or is free if you purchase the season pass.
- Rockstar released an update to Grand Theft Auto Online that added capture the flag modes.
- Blizzard announced that the Reaper of Souls expansion for Diablo III will be released on March 25. The regular digital version will cost $39.99 and the digital deluxe version will cost $59.99. The deluxe version includes three additional character slots and special in game content for Diablo III, World of Warcraft, and StarCraft II.
- Blizzard has pushed back the open beta to their card game HearthStone: Heroes of Warcraft to 2014.
- Sony announced that from December 28-31 PS4 owners that have PlayStation Plus will be able to download the multiplayer portion of Killzone: Shadow Fall for a free trial. The download is 38.5 GB and can already be pre-downloaded now.
- Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be released on the PC on January 9 for $29.99.
- An update to Dragon's Crown raises the level cap from 99 to 255, adds a harder difficulty, and adds a ridiculously large dungeon called the Tower of Mirages with over 10,000 levels.
- A producer at Ubisoft commented that it was a possibility that two Assassin's Creed games will be in development in 2014. One for next gen consoles and the other for current gen.
