Weekly Wrap Up! (12/13/13)
- Halo: Spartan Assault will release on the Xbox One on December 24. The game will be downloadable only and will cost $14.99. People who bought the game for Windows 8 may purchase the Xbox One version for $4.99 instead. The Xbox One version of the game includes new weapons, abilities, achievements, and a co-op mode.
- The Wii U eShop received a new (and most excellent) edition this week. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is available for download via the virtual console store. Unfortunately, as of now, it is only available in Europe.
- The indie game Fez has sold more than one million copies across all available platforms (Xbox 360, PC, Mac, and Linux). A PS4, PS3, and PS Vita version is planned on being released as well.
- Ubisoft released the Blackbeard's Wrath dlc for the Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag multiplayer portion. The dlc pack includes three playable characters (Blackbeard, The Orchid, and The Jaguar). If you have the season pass it is already included. If you don't have the season pass it will cost you $2.99.
- Bethesda announced that The Elder Scrolls Online will release on the PC on April 4, 2014. The Xbox One and PS4 versions will release later in June 2014.
- Rayman Legends will be releasing on the Xbox One and PS4 on February 28, 2014. Both next gen versions will feature faster loading times, updated graphics, and exclusive in game costumes. Also, the PS4 version will feature touch pad controls, while the Xbox One version has 10 exclusive challenges that unlock special achievements.
- It was announced that Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will release on March 18, 2014. Both the Xbox and PlayStation versions will include an exclusive mission with a playable character. The game will cost $19.99 for current gen versions and $29.99 for next gen versions. The box art for the game can be seen below.
- A new piece of dlc for Call of Duty: Ghosts was released that allows you to turn your dog in the killstreak to a wolf. The dlc costs $1.99 and is available on the Xbox versions now, but will come to other platforms later.
- Lionhead Studios announced that Fable Anniversary will launch for the Xbox 360 on February 4 in North America, February 6 in Australia, and February 7 in Europe. Fable Anniversary will have updated HD graphics, new achievements, interface, SmartGlass functions, a special avatar helmet, and will include the Lost Chapters dlc.
- Get ready to celebrate Christmas in Borderlands 2! The latest Headhunter add on is titled "How Marcus Saved Mercenary Day" and puts players in the cold area of Gingerton. The add on will also feature new enemies, character skins, and more. Get your hands on this on December 17 on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, PC, and Mac for $2.99.
- Capcom has announced the first batch of dlc for Dead Rising 3 will release on December 24. The dlc titled "Operation Eagle" has you playing as a spec ops commander tasked with rescuing the president. The dlc will feature a new mission, weapons, combo weapon, vehicle, and outfits. It costs $10 by itself or is part of the $30 season pass.
- Blizzard has started the closed beta for the Diablo III expansion "Reaper of Souls." Invitations are being sent out to Battle.net accounts.
- Minecraft for the Xbox 360 has sold 10 million copies since it launched in May 2012. Minecraft for the PC and Mac have sold 13 million copies and the Pocket Edition has also sold 10 million copies. Expect those numbers to continue to raise even more when the game releases for the Xbox One and PS4.
- Sony announced that they released the PS4 in 15 more countries which brings the total number of markets the PS4 is available in to 48.
- Telltale Games announced that episode one (titled "All That Remains") of The Walking Dead Season 2 will release on Xbox Live Arcade on December 18. The single episode will cost $5 or you can purchase the season pass for $15. As of now there's been no word on when the other versions of the game will be released. Check out the trailer below!
