Weekly Wrap Up! (9/13/13)

- Sony announced a new device called the PS Vita TV. The little device will allow users to play PS Vita, PSOne classics, and PSP games on a television with a DualShock 3 controller. The PS Vita TV also has slots for PS Vita games and memory cards, and can allow streaming services like Hulu. Eventually you will also be able to play PlayStation 4 through remote play with the DualShock 4 controller.

The PS Vita TV is set to release in Japan on November 14th for 9,480 Yen ($95) for a standard version and 14,980 Yen ($150) for a special edition with a 8GB PS Vita memory card and a DualShock 3 controller. As of now Sony has said it has no plans to release the PS Vita TV in the US or Europe.

- Sony revealed a new PS Vita model that is designed to be more casual and easier to use. The new model will be lighter and thinner, will have a LCD screen instead of OLED, and has built in storage of 1GB. The battery life has also been increased by an hour and it will be available in different colors. The new model will be released on October 10th in Japan for 18,980 Yen ($190). It’s unknown if it'll be released elsewhere.

- SCEA CEO Jack Tretton has said that the company is holding back stock of the PS4 to ensure that there will be units available in stores at launch.

-Ubisoft has announced a HD remake of Assassin's Creed Liberation. The HD remake will include: enhanced visuals, gameplay, and new missions. It is scheduled to be released as a digital download in 2014 for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. 

- In an IGN Q&A session, Microsoft confirmed that players will be able to scan in digital codes with the Kinect sensor.

- Microsoft has acquired the domain Xbone.com. Xbox Live's Major Nelson commented on the name as being disrespectful to all the teams who have put in thousands of hours on development. 

- Namco Bandai Europe announced Soulcalibur Lost Swords. It will be a free-to-play single player game that will be exclusively on the PlayStation Network. An official announcement on the release date has not been given as of now.

- The Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts will feature some voice activated controls with the Kinect sensor. As of now it will just be an option for navigating the menus, but more Kinect features could be used later on.

- Guerrilla Games has stated they opted out of xp and instead will be using challenges to level up players' rank in Killzone: Shadow Fall. There will be more than 1,500 challenges available when the game ships, and the challenges will range in difficulty. When a player completes a challenge they are awarded a point to their rank.

- Capcom has stated that the world of Dead Rising 3 is larger than the first two games combined. Also, to make the game feel like a true open world, there will not be any load screens.

- Bethesda announced the Dishonored: Game of the Year edition. The GOTY edition will include the original game (of course) and all the dlc that has been released. It will be released in North America on October 8th, and October 11th in Europe. It will cost $39.99 and will be available on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
