Transformers: Fall of Cybertron: You've got the power!

Let's face it. Transformer games have sucked in the past. However, that changed with the release of High Moon Studios smashing hit Transformers: War for Cybertron back in 2010. So could they actually make another transformers game that would be just as good? Simply put, yes they can and they did. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is another great transformers game that takes everything good from War for Cybertron and adds some freshness.

Naturally, this game takes place after the events of War for Cybertron. You are still on the planet of Cybetron and civil war is still tearing the planet apart. Just like War for Cybertron, you will get to play from both the Autobots and the Decepticons side during the campaign. I really like this because it allows you to view each side's objectives and their purpose for the war. Every level is designed with tons of detail. I loved seeing these huge battle scenes going on around me in each level. Also, all of the transformers themselves are highly detailed. You can see little gears and parts moving inside them and their weapons.

The campaign lasts 13 missions and you will get to control a specific transformer throughout the campaign. This includes Optimus Prime, Megatron, Bumblebee, Cliff Jumper, Jazz, Starscream, and more. There is also the addition of the Dinobots, which allows you to play as Grimlock...complete with tyrannosaurus rex form! It was awesome to see Metroplex, but you don't get to control him. All you can do is point to where you want him to attack things. Voice work for all of the transformers is top notch too.

Throughout the campaign you will earn money that can be used at stations to unlock and upgrade weapons and perks to use. If you are a treasure hunter each level has hidden audio files and weapon blueprints to find. Some are easier to find than others! One thing about this game that I didn't like is that the campaign co-op was taken out. I know some won't find this a problem, but I really like campaign co-op.

Just like before, there is a great multiplayer section to this game. On the competitive side, you have modes such as team deathmatch, head hunter, conquest, and capture the flag. Just like most online shooters, you can upgrade your character and unlock new weapons, perks, and various skills. There are different classes to choose from and each as a specific role such as soldier or medic. Then there's the return of the awesome escalation mode (horde mode). Escalation lets you and three other friends team up to fight off a total of 15 waves of enemies in various maps. A nice addition to Fall of Cybetron is the ability to customize your transformer for multiplayer. You can unlock/choose different parts and colors to get that specific look you're wanting.

Overall I was very pleased with Fall of Cybertron. The campaign is very well done and I found myself hooked on the story and really wanting to progress through the game. Even though there isn't any campaign co-op, the multiplayer is satisfying enough to keep you playing the game once the campaign is done. If you're a transformers fan you need to play this. Even if you're not a fan but are on the fence about it I think you should still try it. Oh, and wait for the end credits after the campaign. Trust me, you'll love it!

Final Verdict: 8/10
