Sorry I missed your call. I was playing a game.
It's time for the first blog of 2012! Let's dive right in. Cell phones. Everyone has one and they can be both awesome and annoying at times. With advancements in technology cell phones are more unlike traditional phones and have become small computers. Now developers are incorporating cell phones as gaming devices. With thousands of games (or apps) on the Android and iPhone iOS market, it's easy to group cell phones in with the handheld gaming market.
Most of the gaming apps on smart phones are more simple in terms of graphics and controls. Take for example Angry Birds. This is a simple yet addicting game, but it doesn't necessarily wow you in the graphics department. That doesn't mean it has to though. However, there are several games out there that actually rival full fledged handheld games. For example, Battlefield Bad Company 2 on the iPhone has quality graphics and a full campaign. Not only that, but it also has online multiplayer! The iPhone version of Dead Space 2 looks like something you would play on the PSP. I wanted to show off a few iPhone games that are not only fun, but incredible looking too.
Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation: This is from developer Gameloft. It's their version of the Modern Warfare games. It includes a good single player campaign and full progressive multiplayer!
Those are just a few examples of what I think are outstanding games. What makes them even more outstanding is that they being played on a cell phone. It will be awesome to continue to see what developers create in both the smart phone department, and the games we play on them. Just remember not to be a total douche and answer those incoming calls every now and then.
