Hark! New games on the horizon!
Hello all of you game lovers out there. This rant is going to be a little different from the last several ones. Instead of reviewing a game I thought I'd talk about some of the games coming out in the next few months that I'm looking forward to. I'll very briefly describe each game and tell the release date and available platform. Hopefully there's a game in this list that you aren't aware of and will want to check out for yourself too. Enjoy!
Dead Space 2 (available for: Xbox 360, PS3, and PC) -- January 25, 2011
If you're looking for a good scary/survival horror game then check this one out. You are in space (obviously) and you are hunted by these hideous creatures called necromorphs. You have to dismember their bodies to kill them. Thankfully you've got some cool weapons to do that. Plus the developers have added multiplayer gameplay. Dark, gloomy environments where enemies jump out at you will surely have you peeing in your pants!
Two Worlds 2 (available for: Xbox 360, PS3, and PC) -- January 25, 2011
If you've played the first Two Worlds you may be completely turned off by this game. I was too at first. The developers have really worked on this game and gave it a complete overhaul. The graphics, voice acting, and combat is all better. There's quite a few multiplayer co-op and competitive game modes in this too. If you enjoy fantasy rpg games with tons of quests and a large world to explore you might like this game.
Bulletstorm (available for: Xbox 360, and PS3) -- February 22, 2011
This is an over the top shooter that does not take itself seriously. You can pull off some pretty slick combos. For example you can pull an enemy towards you with a rope, kick them back into the air, and fill their body full of hot lead before they hit the ground. There's online co-op and a slew of other multiplayer features as well as the campaign. If you enjoy a nice shooter this game is probably for you.
Killzone 3 (available for: PS3) -- February 22, 2011
It's the third entry into the shooter series and the Helghast are back for more. The developers are promoting new vehicle combat, new enemies, more multiplayer modes, a new melee combat system, and large diverse environments. The game will also be compatible with the Playstation Move and will be playable in 3D if you have the means for it. This is a PS3 exclusive if you didn't know already.
Dragon Age 2 (available for: Xbox 360, PS3, and PC) -- March 8, 2011
I really liked Dragon Age Origins so I'm really looking forward to this game. If you haven't played the first Dragon Age but have played Mass Effect 1 or 2 you would probably like this game. It's a fantasy rpg where the choices you make with characters in the game will shape the outcome. There are tons of quests, a large land to explore, and the graphics and cinematics have all been enhanced. This is a single player game by the way, but don't let that stop you from checking it out even if you love multiplayer.
Crysis 2 (available for: Xbox 360, PS3, and PC) -- March 22, 2011
Do you remember when you had to have an incredibly powerful PC to play the original Crysis? Well, if you're a console gamer you don't have to worry about that with the coming release of Crysis 2. It was suppose to come out in the fall of 2010 but was pushed back. The game is set in New York City and is full of new smarter enemies and a brand new nanosuit that allows you to customize your character and weapons with super soldier abilities. Top that off with a robust multiplayer experience and you've got yourself one cool shooter!
So there you have it. Six new games that will be coming out in the next few months. I know that there are other games coming out during this time that you may also be looking forward to. These were just some of the big games that I am anxious to play and already have preordered. Perhaps you will be getting one of these games and I will see you online? What games are you looking forward to this year? Until I rant again fellow gamers.
